I second that, I went from completely stock to a duel ultimate setup- money well spent! I was annoying wraith to death at TDS playing with all the different gear combos! If there is not a gear suitable for the terrain, it does not exist! 4.7= a great upgrade, you will be shifting a bit more often from time to time duel= twice the options and extremely low low gearing. I could not help but giggle when I shiften the rear case to 4wd low and then the front ( attempted to pull Wraith off a rock, all four tires simply dug holes into the sand, with zero throttle input!) If money is a concearn you can always do the 4.7 single case, and add a case to the front when money allows for driveshafts and crossmember.
hell yea,,when In doubt,,double down 3rd gear and throttle out..I can pretty much get in or out of all kinds of trouble with that gearing...Its the perfect gear for FULLY GETTING IT!!
An dual transfercase has just 2 transfer cases. The dual ultimate has 2 transfer cases and a 4.7 gear in it. The ultimate crawls slower and is a lot lot better for wheeling. Now, dual transfer cases crawl slower then just a 4.7, or a 5.0(4.97?) so a dual transfer case is better for crawling then a 4.7 or 5.0.
The good thing about this comparison is even if you just started out with the Dual setup, you can always eaisly upgrade to the Ultimate by replacing the gear set in your rear transfercase. The Cool thing about the Ultimate is you can run:a single stock 2.28:1a single 4.70:1or the Ultimate 10.72:1BigMike
One more bonus to having the duel cases is front driveline angle..the extra 6 inches you get from adding the crawler box really helps with the front driveline angle on lifted trucks because it makes it longer and takes some ot the angle out..
OT.toyota tcase has a standard J pattern shift positions, what happens now (of the pattern) on the front and rear case on a dually set up?given that it is not yet twin-sticked.
How does the rear driveline angles look after a dual case install? Did you guys have to cut and rotate your rear axle again? CV shafts still work?
I heard someone mention that a single 4.7 is hard on the input shafts or something. Is this a serious issue?
