So you'd be looking to swap a JEEP 4.0 into your ride because of the awesome low end???????????????????  :disturbed:

Those 4.0's are great motors (minus the intake and exhaust manifolds being on the same side) and no I wouldnt swap one into a yota, I would leave it in the jeep. If I was to swap it'd either be a 1JZ or a 2JZ  :smokin:

The JZ's are awesome motors for sure, but they don't have low end like the 4.0. I once was thinking the Jeep 4.0-AW4 231 in a Tacoma, mostly cause I had both and didn't like the 3.4 5spd setup. But alas I didn't and am holding out to do a 1UZ A340 D300 swap in something IFS.

Definately! 1UZ would be very nice in a little hilux.

Having been there and done that I say skip the tons and 47's. You will gain a lot of weight and not much more ground clearence.

1 22re and a stroker kit with turbo injectors and a good head, mild porting. My brother in law has one runs awesome great power.

2 22re turbo pistons and injectors, msd ignition with boost retard, head studs mls gasket 8-10 psi. you'll love it. My sweet spot is 4th gear double low with 4.88 gears and 42's. lots of power, I made some 500 plus horse power rigs look bad at the mud bogs the last 2 years.

3  3rz great power and torque, But at 10psi I have more power and torque. At 16psi LOL an easy 250hp.

The 4.3 weighs more and at 190hp for the vortec is an ok option but I say keep it all toyota. 1uz a wiring nightmare, don't know what it weighs, but more than my combo. I just pulled off my 12,500 winch, bumper, inner cooler and nerf bars. Shaved 300lbs off the truck ,what a difference! Keep it light for the snow and mud. Just my 2cents.
1986 4Runner turbo sas high pinion,E-locked 4:88's,taco rear Detroit locker,22ret forged everything,
duels mc07-r10 cut 42's.

A 4.3 and a 1UZ weigh pretty close to the same.  According to a quick google search.

I agree with staying with a 22RE.  I've seen some amazing things done with that setup.  My truck still amazes me sometimes.  And its all stock.
Miss ya Dean (4THEWKN) & Kyle (KYOTA)!!

4THEWKN~9/17/2006  If it wasn't for you, I'd be driving something other than a Toyota!
