I know I just want to pull it out of the garage at least and step back and look at it from 20 feet away  Need to do a shakedown run on it some where. Flop test is happening in wheatland.

Lol. Let me know when. I want to watch

Will do.

Well cut my floors out all the way so I can tie the cage and seats into the frame better. While doing this I raised my drivetrain to see if I should do a flat belly or not. I know this changes my cog but after adding tons and 42's I think ill still be better than I was, thoughts?

TheChewMaster

I guess it's not technically a flat belly, but I believe your motor is still mounted, so it's probably not worth redoing all of that or putting additional stress on your orig mounts just for a few inches. I'd just run it the way it is.

kdub0013

Yeah I may raise it just enough to not have to modify the mount.

Sat in my seat and need to lower it a smidge. Being tall sucks sometimes.

See I am almost done  I'm sure I am missing something :shaking:

Thanks dude! I didn't do anything this weekend on it because I decided before I move any further I needed to clean my garage first and make my space more usable. I will start again this weekend.

kdub0013

Well I haven't worked on the truck since last week because I could not take my cluster flop garage anymore. So I've been cleaning house and redoing my storage and making my workspace more efficient and usable. I will jump back on the truck Saturday.

kdub0013

Well got more :pokinit: cleaned up and more progress on the wall/shelf. This is the first time I have been able to step back and see the rig from a distance and I like it. Gonna get the shelves finished in the morning and start on the rig in the afternoon.

dropzone

i need to do some shelves like that to get some of the crap in my garage organized

Dude it's where it's at. Get rid of crap and whatever is left get it up above your head! Gonna weld up a nice steel work bench and be done with it. It really slowed me down tripping over stuff to work.

kdub0013

Well got the shop setup a bit more. The only thing I did on the truck was un bury it and start clean up. Got a few more shelves to add but for now I can organize my tools and parts. I will start working on the truck tomorrow after work.

kdub0013

Shop is finally clean and I started working on the truck. Calipers are ground and she rolls! Got the new thick wall tube cut and ready to weld to the cv and yoke for the rear. Also through the cab back on to get an idea of looks and I like it :smokin: anyway I should get my tabs from wfo tomorrow and ill setup my ram and get the steering tacked together.

Yeah dude, gotta be organized when working in a small space!  ive been doing projects like that in my small "2-car" garage for 5 years now.  i have spent alot of time putting in shelves and other things.  one thing that works really well to store all the small stuff is lockers out of an old school or event center.  I got a few of them and love em!

Heres a shot of mine.  the jig table is on casters so i can move it outside to bring cars in to work on them

It makes a huge difference when you have some room to move around and work on your rig!

That's a sweet setup  :beerchug:

Had company over tonight so couldn't get much done but I did drill out the adapter for the cone filter and also found some 3/4" od pipe that is threaded perfectly for the steering column. This adds length and fills the inside of the speedway steering wheel disconnect for better welding top and bottom. Anyone else want one let me know I have access to more than plenty.

kdub0013

Started the floor and got the driver seat tacked in, pregnant dog is gonna be comfy. Started the tunnel too. Also my ram tabs should be here from wfo concepts tomorrow. Thanks Beau for hooking that up!

kdub0013

Driver side is all tacked in, I will start on the passenger side tomorrow, then seat tabs and sheet it with some thin gauge crap.

kdub0013

Here is what I came up with for my ram mount using 2x3 and .25 plate for the gussets and reinforcement. Ill cut this out and tack it all in this weekend.

kdub0013

So a buddy of mine mentioned my tunnel being attached cab floor to frame and being and issue. Would this be an issue since the rest of my cage is tied into the body and welded together? Granted the 4 body mounts are there but there is really nothing left of the cab, thoughts?

pumkin toy

Is the rest of your cage attached to both the frame and body?  we ended up solid mounting the cab on my dads pickup because his floor was in such bad shape.  we ended up putting in a new floor like yours.  now he gets alot of vibration from the engine because the body is solid to the frame.  But he also has poly engine mount bushings.  if the engine mount bushings were soft rubber, it would probly help

kdub0013

The cage is attached at the firewall dash bar area and is tight in most places. I'm not so much worried about vibes being a trail rig as I am things flexing and breaking.

kdub0013

Had family over all weekend so I only got a few hours this afternoon to work :shaking: gonna go finish weld a bunch of crap tonight after the baby is asleep. Looks like the others but I finished the passenger side seat mount and floor.

Also I finally got the ram tacked in. Need to cycle it a bunch and make sure it's good. Already tacked and removed and retacked several times so I think I'm good to go. Of course a truss and gussets will tie everything in.

kdub0013

I finished welding the floor board last night now just need to cut some sheet sections out with the plasma. I also welded the steering wheel quick disco onto the column. I am going to play with the ram next again and get that figured out so I can pull this bish out of the garage this weekend.

kdub0013

Made some good progress with the 2 hours I had. I redid the ram and tacked in on leaving me with 4" of up travel which if I get smaller fittings coming out of the ram will be more like 5" of up travel.

Tacked the driveline together and eyeballed it to make sure it's straight

Also burned the orbital mount in.

The tie rod side is just about correct, should be fine. But you should reconsider this axle side.
What you have now is going to bind (twist) the axle side tabs. Eventually leading to the axle side mounting tabs to work harden and crack.

umm..
Looking at this more.. Because this is a pin ended ram (no flex, just a pivot), consider making both mounting end pins (bolts) parallel, AND in a parallel face that is made by the knuckle pivot axes.
So in other words, looking from a side view, the axial line running through the center of the knuckles pivots, and the axial line running through the center of the pins (bolts), should be in the same paralleled plains; same angle.

took your advice

Redid the ram for the final time cycled everything and good. I was making good head way when bam I saw that one of my wheels is bent which somehow I did not notice. So this sucks because I'm not sure what to do with this.

The ram even though I'm too pissed to care about it right now :shaking:

x250f23x

 Looks good now :beerchug:

Wow, IDK about that wheel.  :_oops:

superyota

Lookin good buddy!  where's the wheel bent?  I'm having a hard time seeing it.  what wheels are you running?
