The egg is in the nest!!!! See ya on the way home.  Dean....................  PS. I think a sunburst orange like on the newer  Chevy trucks would look cool.
Rock Rash: It's all mind over matter, if you don't mind it don't matter!!

TrackVino

Read my mind Dean, actually, I think I told you I was going a Sunburst orange. Anyway, yeah a Sunburst orange. Hope I find the color I want. Thanks for looking

TrackVino

Picked up my paint today, not exactly the color I wanted, but the color I wanted was a metallic, and I don't want to use metallic, I just wanted a single stage, solid color, so thats what I got.

Anyway, got that, the primer and all the other goodies I need.

Hope to be done sanding, and finishing the body work. Not really done this before. My brother came over for dinner, my wife made Lasagna, it was good. Anyway, it was a bribe to have my brother help.

Here are some pics. He was sanding the truck, I was mounting the fenders. Got most of it done.

Here are a couple more. Cant wait to see it one color.

I really don't know what I'm doing, but that hasn't stopped me yet.

Here is whats up, Ive been spending some time stripping everything off of the 4 runner. I removed the windshield, door and tailgate glass, and all hardware, rubber seals and whatever can come off. I know this is lots of work, but after all the work Ive been putting in this thing, I didn't want to just tape things off and paint.

So here we are, the whole thing has been water sanded, I'm happy with all the body work, still has some little dents, nothing major, and is ready to primer. I don't have a booth, and I don't want to pay for a booth, so I made my own.

I put some money in plastic and created my own booth in my garage. I hope this works.

TrackVino

Again, I need help with this thing. Anyway, did my best, here it is one color.

Thanks

Im going to water sand it, then get ready to see some color.

Willy Mammoth

You can dry sand it too and you won't have to wait for it to dry before painting it.  :eyebrow:  I don't like wet sanding because the water gets trapped in the primer and filler. This causes water blisters latter. :_oops:  Just my  :twocents:

What paint are you using?

TrackVino

I am dry sanding it now. Thanks

Im using a single stage solid color from Napa, I think its Martins or something like that.

TrackVino

OK, here is a preview of the color. I cut in the tail gate and tail gate jam along with the hood jam and front of truck, whatever you call it.

Willy Mammoth

Looking good, Looks like you know what you are doing. The paint is Martin Senior, I believe it is made by Sherwin Williams. Can't wait to see it all one color. it's going to be sharp and bright too.

Spent the evening with my wife and baby, took a drive to Home Depot.

Got home late this evening so didnt have time to do anything else. Waiting for the paint to dry. Its pretty dry right now, just a bit soft.

I was able to put the hood and tailgate on. It does look good. Tomorrow I will sand the primer down and if I have time, paint the rest of the truck. I want this thing done!!!  :bricks:

Willy Mammoth

QuoteI want this thing done!!!

I here that! Still working on mine. It's hard to finish it when all you want to do is drive it. :gap:

TrackVino

Yup, its true!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This thing is finally

Are you ready?

TrackVino

All one color now.

Couple more.

TrackVino

Cant really tell from the pictures. The paint actually came out pretty good. No drips or runs. No orange peel. Just a tinny bit on the ruff side.

Nothing a quick cut and buff cant fix.

I plan on pulling this thing out on Wednesday and putting both campers in for paint. Hopefully all goes good.

TrackVino

Forgot to mention, I got this thing at work. Won it on some safety contest.  :bling: for the rig.

:flamer:

Willy Mammoth

Hey Hey Hey! That looks good. Now all you need is some mud to make it not look so new. :beerchug:
