Stripped my cab, no dash, no wires pretty much nothing except sheet metal and the back window.  Then set it on the frame so I can start mocking up shock towers and motor mounts cross members and such.

I posted this in the wrong place.  I am a dummy I know!

haha, it's cool.

so i took the cd player apart and it looks like where the ground goes into fried.  i am going to take it to work tomarrow and hope we have a saudering gun (spelling?)  it look like i might be able to make it work.  i am guess that becasue i ran the cd player straight tothe battery with no fuse the 12v was a bit to much for it.  :(  i will put a fuse in there and hope it works.

Greenhorn on Sunday.  it is up by Colfax.  hella people are suppose to be there. the Winter Fun Fest is there and they have like an organized run on friday or saturday or something.  but me and everyone else i know are going on sunday.  and i got the hood pins mounted so no more ratched strap hood latch.  also got my cd player back togeter but i won't be able to try it out till tomarrow.  so i wired the cd player straight to the battery and i know now that that wasn't a good idea.  what should i put inbetween them (fuse, fusable link, relay?)  i am no wiring guru so any help is welcomed.  i need to have the cd player in by saturday.

Ramrod

just find a power wire under the dash and hook it up to that but disconnect the battery first and then hook up the + cable first when you reconnect the battery and you should be good to go.  You lucky fags with rigs better get some better pics this time out

Hyena, My Cd player runs off my battery, I just have an inline fuse there.  No problems so far :dunno:

how big of a fuse?  i didn't put any fuse in mine.  i was told a 5 or 10 amp would work.  but i really don't want to fry the cd player again.

mickeyfinn

do you have the original harness in it ? if you have a test light just find the wire in the radio harness that is powered by the key.

nope, the original harness is cut.  the harness i have now is is out of a truggy, everything that wasn't need was cut out.  no radio wiring in it.  i guess i could go through it and see if there are any misc plugs with power.  it all should go through fuses and relays and stuff shouldn't it?

mickeyfinn

if you have a factory fuse box in it. there should be fused circuits controlled by the key. another way you could do it would be to find a hot wire that is powered by the key and put a fuse between that and the radio. if ithe radio has memory you will have to find a hot wire that has current with the key turned off. most radios use between 5 and 7.5 amp fuse

boggerunner

im runnin a panisonic cd player in my 79 off the battery with the hot and ignition wire twisted together with a 15 amp inline fuse to the battery, ive had bad luck with not getting enough power for a cd player through the factory toyota harness

Hyena

thanx guys.  i'll throw in a 5 amp in there tomarrow and see what happens.  i am really hoping the cd player is fixed

Hyena

ok, so the cd player works now!  but now theer is no power going to the amp.  and the amp is connected straight to the battery like it has always been.  im gonna have to fallow that power wire and see whats going on with it.  but i am happy i don't have to buy a new cd player.

maybe, now that i remember ther is a 50 amp fuse inline with the amp and the battery that i totally forgot to check.  i am thinking that is the problem.  i'll check that out tomarrow.

mickeyfinn

well they are two different styles, they look a little different.    i thought the enternals were different too.  anyway i got the amp working.  the fuse was blown.  but it works great now.  even got my ipod hooked up!  tomarrow i am finally going to change out that bent chevy spring that Pat stuck me with about a long long time ago.

gotrocks

What you're not going to link it.  Slacker.  Only I'm allowed to do that.

hey hey, i still have the air shoxs.  i gotta get a few things done before i can start on the links.  i don't even have a place to store my truck here in the next month so that is kinda a big issue too.

gotrocks

yeah I understand what you mean. My buddy has had to store his rig here for a little bit because he just moved and didn't want to leave his cruiser at his new house because its already been vandalized.

so i finally switched out that fubar'd chevy spring today.  lifted the ass end a good 2 inches.  should help it from bottoming out the shocks and it should flex a little better now.
