yeah i think it does not 100% though, something else that ive noticed every now and then when turning i hear a pop like metal hitting metal, but theres nothing to hit(hysteer) so it has to be internal, thinking birfield as well?

quick update, pulled the birfs tonight and they look fine no crack nothing, could use some advice as what to check, for those of you just tuning in, had some clicks while driving coming from the front wheels/axle, i then put the truck into 4WD and locked the hubs, proceeded to drive and got a really bad clunking noise, dont think its the transfer case because when i unlocked the hubs but left it in 4WD the clunking stopped
please help guys not sure where to look next

Have a buddy come over and sit in your truck and rock the wheel back and forth.

Mine somewhat pops when I turn and its my leaf springs making the noise, its weird.

In 4wd my longields make popping noises but apparently that's common witht them

well so far i have eliminated the birfs and the wheel bearing, the truck still pops when in 4WD under load so next im going to look at the diff and make sure everything is good there, and hopefully it isnt the transfer case

Do you have all the proper retaining clips in place on your birfs?  I've heard and seen them before where the outer retaining clip was missing allowing the birf to slide in and out, but not smoothly.  It was like it was binding up wanting to move, and then "pop" it would shift a little bit and then go back into place and keep repeating the random popping noise (if that makes any sense????   :eek:)
Tungsten isn't filler material!  Quit dippin' it!


Some people are like a slinky....not really good for anything, but they sure can make you smile when you shove them down the stairs!

All the retaining clips are in place I double checked that when I pulled the birf out and put it back in as well. I also think I may have found the problem. When I pulled the drive line the cv was binding pretty badly. Took it in to the driveline shop they looked at and said it needed to be serviced so that's what they did get it back today hopefully it's what was causing the problem will keep everyone informed

Found the problem in the front diff

so im going to regear to 5.29s so i also pulled the rear diff which is a v6 carrier but im not sure what its supposed to look like, is this right? or is it a limited slip diff?

we have the exact same running gear, If I could I would put on even shorter gears, if these ever screw up, I'm going with 571s, FYI you will actually get to use your overdrive LOL, I'm turning about 1600rpm's at 60mph awesome!

So im trying to figure out what design to go with please give me your feedback heres one mock up

Then the next design is to just kind of match the front door with the rear rather than having that flat step above the handle, it would just be a straight /

I like how you have them in the middle but if you cut out one door handle I think it would look better if you cut them both out. I am going to make tube doors for mine because I like the look of them.

Well guys do to Money and the possibility of moving for a new job I may need to sell my runner. As of now its still an idea and im not 100% sure that i will be selling but hit me up if anyone is interested i much rather see it go to someone on Marlin or at least a friend of Marlin. Hey guys,

Long time no talk. So a little update on whats been going on in my life. I ended up selling the 4runner and moved down to the Pismo Beach Area, Central Coast of California. I have been dabbling in the Subaru WRX lifestyle and i love it however. I miss the rock crawling community. So i found a 94 4runner, yes it has the 3.0 and yes its an auto, but my plan is to daily drive it. Maybe restore it completely to stock. Make it real clean. Should be making a final deal on it tomorrow as long as everything looks cherry tomorrow. Looking forward to getting back on to Marlin. Miss this forum a lot.
