Well I broke down picked up a trail-gear pump ordered the filter/res kit. Gonna have some hydro lines made up once I get everything home. Also ordered Daves offroad 3.0 bracket for the TG pump. And I got a rebuild kit for the surplus center ram just because. So this is no longer hydro assist on the cheap. :smack:

You will be happier in the end.

Since im piecing together this hydro assist system on my 3.0 the trail-gear Hydro assist hose kit will not work for me. So i am having some custom hydraulic hoses made.
1 hose goes from TG pump to a special fitting on the steering box. The hose will have #6 JIC fittings on both ends and have to be about 5.5' long to be routed nicely from the box to the pump. I.D. 3/8" high pressure.

2nd hose goes from res/filter to the pump #10 JIC fittings on both ends 5/8" I.D. low pressure.

3rd hose goes from 3/8" barb on oil cooler to #6 JIC fitting on res/filter

got them quoted through an account at work and its only gonna cost me 66.00$

Got my Hydro lines made during lunch!!! Im super stoked as long as my Dave'z Offroad bracket comes for the TG pump today i should have everything hooked up tonight. I also have to make a bracket to hold the TG res/filter but i got half of it made last night. I also tore out the old pump and hoses last night to prepare for the install of all this new  :pokinit:

pic of hydro lines i got made from Intermountain/Unisource

Ya i think the problem with the cheap set up was that my stock pump was allready on its last leg. If i rev'd the truck up to like 2 or 3 grand and turned the wheel slowly i could tell the Hydro-assist was workin. But it just wasnt cuttin it, ya know. And i didnt wanna just put another stock pump on. So tomorrow im gonna finish the bracket im makin to hold the new res/filter. And hook all the lines up. I think i can get the first part of the bleeding done with the lines hooked up to the pump i just cant turn it over and what not. I'll get everything done so when the bracket does show up I can slap it on and GO!! :gap:

Got all the lines and everything hooked up and bled as best we(me and EARLY) could yesterday!  Just waitin for another pump bracket to get shipped to my house from daves offroad.

Had to remove the radiator overflow to make room to mount the res/filter kit. It looks way bigger in person than it does on TG's site. Im just gonna use a big pop bottle to replace the overflow tank.

Pump hooked up and ready to go just waitin for the bracket!

Another question for ya'll.
My ram seems to be moving in the opposite direction of my tires. I have the truck in the air on jack stands tires off the ground. And the ram un-bolted from the axle/tie rod.
This is the diagram I used to figure out how to route the hoses.

I have checked, double checked and re-checked and had my friend look at the pic and my set up. We both come to the conclusion that the hoses are in the correct order. but the ram moves the wrong way!!?
The hose with the duct tape on it goes to the top of the steering box.

But when the cheap set up was hooked up and working slightly it felt great the ram was helping me turn the direction i needed to turn?

Any body got a clue  :inthedark: why it moves the wrong way, even though the hoses are right. Could it be a clogged hose, or bad steering box?  :willynilly:

Hey EARLY can you post that video you took? some how bleep that f-bomb? lol

Generally the hyd. cylinders shaft pushes towards the drivers side knuckle with the body of the cylinder mounted on the passengers side of the axle. just switch the hoses around on the ram.

I did that. it goes backwords when the truck is off, when the truck is running it goes the right way. Its just wierd that it does not go the right way no matter what.

I used the diagram to figure out which side of the truck the hoses go on. It dont matter if the ram is flipped if the hoses are oriented on the correct side of the truck.

Package came but no bolts. I can't go get any bols cause ash is downtown all night. I can't get the pulley off the pump to get a bolt in the bracket. I think my GF has my wheel lock key makin it a total pain to finish my front bump stops. I'm pretty much fed up with everything right now and just gonna finish my truck this weekend. Sorry guys.
