iv been so busy at work i literally havent had much of any time to work on the truck, we are getting walnuts in on monday so my days have been long trying to finish making everything at work for this season.

i did manage to finish the bed sides/rear bumper. next will be mounting the coilovers and bumps. i was gonna do more tubing from the top of the cage to the bed sides to give it that aggressive look... but im actually really liking how its looking as is so im not doing that anymore. hopefully ill have this thing on its own weight some time soon.

took about 7" out of the front and 7.5" out of the rear portion of the bed. the rear bumper tubing was all sleeved with 1.5" tubing so it will be pretty strong and dent resistant. then i capped it with some 3/16s plate. ill be putting 2 more of the rocks lights i made on top of the plate on each side.

the paint jobs just gonna have to work for now. as long as it looks decent then im ok with it. i dont wanna spend hella money to get them re painted professionally. i got a few quotes for 600$ for just the bed sides so i said f that, and rattle canned it.

well after 1 year and 3 months of patiently building, i finally should be able to drive it tomorrow. just have to mount the coilovers. this time i ended up going through TacoRunner (Brian) to get some radflos 16" coilovers that have been custom valved by him. we went with rates of 14" 125 and a 16" 200 from the company PAC. i have a feeling they will work out well. the price difference was only 100$ more to get these trusted brand shocks/springs with all the accessible parts, personally custom valved, and best customer service available. dont know why i didnt just go with that on the front end in the first time. bumps are 3" profenders, one of these days i would like to take the front and rear bumps appart and convert them to a 2" stroke.

the 2 cross bars holding the bumps are 1.75" .188 wall dom. so it will be plenty strong for all the force.

Damn man.  Cant wait to see some pictures of it offroad.  If you decide you wanna try it out anywhere local let me know!!

first off so so guys no.. im really straight forward with how things operate and drive. no flowery bull crap, like o my rig drives tits when it really doesn't. ill say it how it is and if something shity ill straight say it cuz frankly it really doesn't matter to me, plus its good to help other with truthful info.

the rear suspension turned out great, it fought me hard though. i had to inboard the shocks a bit so it would clear the tire and the frame and full articulation. its close but everything clears. bumps ended up in a great location. also ended up getting way more articulation than i imagined. i still have to trim the fenders a little more on the top since the tire compresses so far under flex. using all the 16" of shock.

got finished at 7pm and ripped around paradise, filled up the gas tank cuz i was worried my filler neck i made might not being a steep enough angle for fueling up, but it works great, like a regular car. thank god.

took it down this really gnarly one lane canyon road down from my house, i can rip it faster in my truck than my car. im 100% blown away how stable this truck is with no sway bars. and i know i can easily get the front shocks better. that was the biggest thing i was worried about was the stability, so im really really happy that it ended up being more stable than i ever thought it could be.

drives down the road comfortably and as fast as i want. besides the typical solid mount vibrations. the driveline with the carrier is dialed. wheels/tires couldnt be smoother which honestly im surprised cuz they are unbalanced and have been sitting with weight on them for a while.

front suspension and bumps are all working and hitting as planned. i would like to get tuned shocks for the front soon. i can already tell the valving is so soft. i went to chico and hit this poser mall crawling field that everyone goes to. theres a few little hills, but mainly wanted to test it on the bad terrain.

i can tell the rear shocks are way better set up than the front. its blowing thought the valving on the front to easily. but none the less it still rips and handles awesome. i was hauling ass. but if i get to fast and end up hitting a big bump or rock it blows through the front valving.

i can for sure feel the typical 3 link roll steer. its not sketch by any means but its definitely something that can be felt when doing around 45 on a really windy canyon with lots of dips. i also think its part of the hydro assist.

besides the roll steer i have nothing else weird going on with the suspension. side hills awesome, no break or acceleration dive what so ever.

i mashed it hard on some terrain for a good 40 minunes, over all im extremely impressed, and although i havent taken it out might. for as built as it is im happy i havent found an issues yet.

the ride height is set, rear shocks have 1" of preload on the springs, i had to re adjust the front once i got the weight back on them. the front are about .5" of preload.

didnt take any pics when i took it out since it was dark but ill get some up soon. i still need to finish a few things before i start driving it much. the flex is awesome. i could only test it up to about 3.5' and there was still lots to go.

as far at the power to weight ratio, i was worried about that. but honestly it barely feels any more sluggish than it was before i built it. still has more than enough power for me.

one of my rock light drivers took a :pokinit:, so f those things they piss me off. there to cheap. im gonna have to upgrade the drivers and change them. it might just be the way i potted them in epoxy.. not sure. but i do like the design and love how bright they are. i just need to get a better driver for them.

I must say Matt, you have done a marvelous job on the Tacoma. It has turned out turnkey and over the top. SEMA has a new truck to show off lol. But no really great job.

chp's are all over flaps lately, I hate seeing people getting there hard earned money stolen by this county

-Matt-

the fix it ticket doesnt bother me.. its the other stuff that come along with it that does. i already ordered some special mud flaps. hopefully they will be here soon. i think they ill look a lot better than regular mud flaps. these ones are meshed. so their kinda see through and dont have that traditional bulky look.

and thanks matt

Link to what you are talking about?

As lame as it sounds, my flaps are pretty ghetto, but they have come in handy more than once.  Really the reason for this was, i made the cheapest flaps i could possible, and for the mounting bolts, i took spare bolts from Thomas's bolt bucket.  So i ended up with center pins and spare bolts holding the flaps together. Since i always have my flaps with the truck, we have had needed center pins before.  Now i know you don't have leafs, but i thought i would throw that out as a suggestion.  Make the flaps useful for more than just preventing tickets?

Mudflaps are lame, i just like them so i don't get hassled, one less thing to get pulled over for.

i cant find the link again for the flaps mike. youll see them soon though. i had a hard time finding them and my dumb ass didnt save the link. and i like your multi use idea on the flaps. but i dont think theres much i could put on to be worth it on my truck. i usually just bring a good size amo can full of bolts/nuts.

not sure yet. we will see how the first trip goes when i start to pack everything. it will take me a a few trips to decide on permanent spots for everything. then once i get the placement of things ill make some more permanent stuff. a lot of its gonna have to be me changing what i bring. so im gonna have to give it some good thought on what im gonna do pretty soon

got the exhaust all finished today. i went with a borla bullet muffler (XR-1® Racing Bullet Mufflers - BORLA® - The World's Most Winning Exhaust). really nice quality and it sounds great. plus the o.d of its only 3.5" so it will fit most anywhere. i was afraid it was gonna be to loud and that id have to add more tubing after the muffler to quiet it down a bit but with just the little down pipe its perfect. heres a few flex shots from the road down from my house, where theres no cops.
