that is FN sweet!!
the design needs to be in a sticky so others can always see them

looks great.  I like the idea of having a whole sub-frame type of setup that holds all the link brackets and stuff.   The only possible issue i see is your rear driveline hitting the rearmost crossmember.  its hard to tell from the pictures, but it seems like the driveline needs to travel right through that area.  im sure you thought of that but i guess im just asking where the driveline fits in!

thanks guys, im gonna be running a 2 piece driveline.

the only way to make it work with a one piece would be have long link, long driveline, and worse geometry. so i figured id make it exactly how i want and just run a 2 piece. ill use a real machine bearing pillow block though. that way it will be bomb proof.

Supremely badass!

Very well thought out as usual with this entire build.

finished my rear links this weekend, coilovers and bumps should be easy, probably order them soonish. kinda just winged everything with keeping a few things in mind. turned out better than i anticipated.. which is always a plus, hopefully it rides nice. fully triangulated, with nothing in the way and more articulation than id ever need. i have about 6" of separation on the frame end and about 10.5" at the axle end. links are at a 5* difference from horizontal uppers to horizontal lowers. uppers are almost level at ride height. i stretched the wheel base a bit. its at 122.5" which im happy with. lowers are 2.25" 3/8"s wall. and uppers are 2" 1/4"wall.

if you ever decide this rig, Im sure you will have people fighting over it.
like always sick!!

-Matt-

thanks dude, i dont think ill be wheeling anymore if i get rid of it. spent to many years rapt around saving money and building this thing. dont think i have the energy to ever want to start a new project. ready for it to be done, have fun with it for a long time, and get on with other things in my life.

86bobbedtoy

I hear ya!
Im actually there, doubt ill ever have the spare time to build another rig!
the family took over that spot, wouldnt have it any other way.

when you expect to be wheelin??

-Matt-

Its more of a money thing. But should be wheelin on trails this summer

Dingman.

If I had wheels/tires that would work for you id let you borrow them for a little.  I just can't wait to see how this thing does!!!

-Matt-

didnt do to much this weekend but i finally wrapped up all my wiring, got the battery and arb stuff all finished. waiting on my pillow block to come in the main so i can finish my drivelines. need to save money for a whole bunch of tubing.

also im gonna attempt to make my own light bar. been doing lots of research, ordered a whole bunch of stuff to test different products out. im not gonna give any info on what im using yet until i have it all working (hopefully) but im gonna be using one of the best high powered most efficient leds on the market today (i dont think any of the light bar companies are even using it). if everything works out i should be able to have a legit light bar that will only cost me 300$ in parts. shooting for 20,000+ lumens. might be a while till all the parts show up though.

how accesable will the battery be with the tank setup in?

86bobbedtoy

-Matt-

No its no where near the tank. Look at the pics above. My tanks sitting where its gonna go I just don't have it mounted or the lid on it yet. Batterys easy to get at, shouldn't really even need to get at it. I still have a hot spot under the hood for jumper cables

86bobbedtoy

ok got ya.
nice place for the battery to.
that did you run for battery power wire-cable?

-Matt-

Thick welding groung cable. think 00 same with my winch power.

locked 4x4

do you have any concerns having you arb compressor mounted so low?  Trucks looking good.

-Matt-

I'm gonna re rout the intake into the cab with my flex line. That way water doesn't get in there besides that there all sealed and pretty much industrictable. And a rock should never get up in there

-Matt-

got my pillow block in the mail the other day, went to my work and got all the pillow block machining, spacers and mount done. now i need to just get a driveline made then ill mount it up.

decided to use polly mounts, thought it would be the perfect setup, really strong, not sloppy, and should kill some vibration from the pillow block. also i got a stainless pillow block. first i was gonna use a standard one (cast iron housing) then from talking to a few people i decided it would be a bad idea. my boss said hes had many of the bearing housings break on machinery before just since its so brittle. didn't want it to crack with a hard driveline hit. also if it broke it would be hard to weld back to get off the trail. that's why i decided to go with the stainless housing, way strong and not brittle, and ill be able to weld it if something happens.

pillow block is a standard 1-1/2" shaft diameter. fits the stock tacoma setup perfect without having to machine the original driveshaft coupler diameter.

86bobbedtoy

gotta tell ya, everything you have done to this rig is superb!

Dingman.

I agree,   my favorite build by far!!!

finished the pillow block mount and installed my driveline today, should be a stong ass setup. solid 1410 u-joint at the axle end.. with a forged steel yoke/slip. 3" .250 wall dom for the main driveline, center section is just standard thin wall. running a regular 20* cv off the case, then running a 30* off the pillow block. they were able to get is pretty balanced for it being a 2 piece with heavy wall tube. ran the truck to 100mph on jackstands and barely had any vibration. pretty much like glass. im sure it would be 100% legit if i didnt have thick wall tube.

happy with how the pillow block mounts. am able to easily lift the truck by the driveline with almost no deflection of the mount with the polly bushings.

wont ever come close to exceeding this angle.

looks great dude!  i like how it turned out
