Here is the triple rate slider I use and offer.

wasnt planing on this till later this week but i thought of a good way to set up my coilover and air bumps so i went with it. i cut the ballistic bracket to pieces again. should have never even bothered buying those. not only was the bolt size for my shocks a lot bigger than the balistic brackets but the spacing was also a lot wider on my shock for the misalignment's they came with.

i also had to figure out a bump pad for the air bumps and i knew i was gonna have to build it off the lower link bracket, so instead of modding the bracket to work for the new shocks and bumps i just cut the original stuff off and started fresh with a design.

i cut some 2.5" wide slivers out of 3" 5/16's tubing for the top cap. i figures with this design the bump can hit anywhere on that with any angle and have a good hitting surface. as far as the shock im gonna use tabs to mount it on top of the new mount i made. it will work out perfect and ill have tons of room to play around with the placement of them without having the coilover and the bump ever hit with different articulation.

TacoRunner

Sweet! make sure to mount the coilover first, then the bump

whattt? more like the opposite.. thats what iv always understood. put axle at full bump then mount the bumps bottomed out, then start mounting the coilovers.

TacoRunner

Then I do the opposite. Set the shock so you have as much up travel and then sit the bumps in a place they dont interfer with moveing parts like those pretty coilovers. I use max articulation (left to right) as max uptravel, then set bumps for max up with both wheels stuffed.

ya i see what your saying. only thing i see is that once you get full bump in place, then you can make your shocks have full articulation around the full bump already being set.

TacoRunner

Then you are forced to compress that bump fully to get the shock to complete its cycle. Bumps are hard to compress by design. So make the articulation easy by doing the opposite.

In the end its kinda like two different systems. The bumps take care of both tires during a jump and shocks are allowed to cycle completley for crawling.

One more thing, if you set the bumps first and to a both tires stuffed. You are then setting you articutlation too. If you do it the other way, you can maximize your articutlation and set your ride height lower.

but if i dont set the bumps fully compressed at full axle bump then whats gonna keep my dragling and panhard from going through my oil pan?

TacoRunner

#280
Full double stuff is just that, full compression of the axle and nothing hitting anything else. Full articulation is different. I dont try to make them the same bump. And if there is shock left when both tires are stuffed then so be it.

i think were on the same page but just thinking different techniques to get the same outcome.

TacoRunner

Besides, if the bump is put on the outside of the frame then the axle and all will rotate around the bump and wont touch the under components. If you maxed out the bumps for double stuff and then left two inches of shock on the axle you would have more articulation upwards.

This makes sense 100%.  I didnt realize how much the axle will still continue to rotate around your bump stop point (whether it be air bumps or the shock bottoming out).  i set up my full bump and left about an inch between the top of the tire and the fender thinking that would be enough clearance.... I ended up having to cut 4 or 5 more inches out of the fenders for tire clearance because of how much that tire keeps leaning into the fender as the opposite side continues to drop under articulation.
I know you guys arent discussing fender clearance, but that waas just a relative comparison of how much things continue to move past what you think is "full bump".

Trying to finish mounting the coilovers and finish welding it all up. I'm fighting daylight right now hard to get anything done after work specially when my woman's gone and I need a hand holding something. Should be all done by the end of this weekend.

-Matt-

so heres some pics of the driver side coilover setup (only driver side is done, and i still need to do a few little more things)

kinda scared about my spring rates. i think i either need to run them in the rear or call polly and try and get a 350 lower spring (what i ordered) instead of a 300. im sure having the passenger side all done and in would make a big difference but this is whats going on. (my current rates 300/200)

the stop is spun wayy down and im not even close to needing to run a triple rate spring. my concern.. them settling and having to spin it down even lower.. and also im able to move my truck around like its nothing with one hand.. meaning i think its gonna be really sloppy on the street. i only had 150psi of just air in them at the time.

heres the driver side somewhere around ride/axle height on its own weight.

TacoRunner

Send me your shocks and let me work them some please. Before you go shipping springs around and all.

well i got a lot done last weekend.. i was just waiting to finish up a few things to post some pics plus iv been fighting the weather and dark. the front end is pretty close to being done. only need to do brake lines, powers steering lines, half the exhaust, and mount the winch.. then its on to the back.

callen and i must have had one to many beers when we first put on one of my coilovers... but there is no preload on the springs. i actually had to run my triple rates. fully extended my triple rate spring is extended probably just over 2". the top retainer is spun down 4.25". seems like everything will work out. also now it feels super solid when i rock it around by hand since its on its own weight.

just for starters i have 225 psi in the shocks and 150 psi in the bumps.

re-did the air coming off my york.. took the top intake and exhaust.. cut all the original stuff off it, welded all the holes up and then started fresh and just drilled and tapped everything so i could hook up exactly what i wanted without a :pokinit: load of fittings. i just used that industrial air line hose you can get at fastenal to plum a line to the rear and front. (ill eventually put a storage tank in the rear). its all the same stuff arb uses but just larger.

skids for tranny and t case are all done (1/4" plate). they are both attached at one end with polly mounts.. since how, and where they are mounted might flex a little bit. i tried to keep them pretty low-pro. even though a huge skid across the frame rails is bomb proof...im just not really a fan of that.

also added a skid to the ram guard for added support against hits (also 1/4"), and made and aluminum spacer for the ram so it bottoms the ram out when my steering bottoms out.

all the electrical is done, and ran towards the back where my battery will be. and all the rest of the engine bay crap has been all remounted to the new tube work.

ur keepin the bed and not bobbin it right,
think I remember you wanted the room.

its all good dood. honestly im the kinda guy that gets more done working alone. im gonna double bob it and move the rear axle 6 or 7" forward.

from no pressure to 225psi it probably raised it close to an extra inch. feels super stable though. when i get in the truck or try and rock it around it feels like a normal vehicle. not sure how much the psi changes that though.
