Mainly because the only extrusion I found on the internet that had the design I was lookingfor only comes in 7" pieces. Also I thought this way would be easier to angle them where I want. I have an idea on how to string all of them together if I wanted to. They look kinda akward in the pics cuz there not fully done and their mounted weird but how I'm planning on mounting them should complete the look

Truck looks great man! You're right about the dark making those fender cuts look huge!

Any news on the rear getting finished up yet?

Next month I'm gonna start up again with all the tubing. Wheels and tires took a lot of money. Should hopefully be a roller in 2 more months

Where did you get this part? i'm interested in running a strong carrier bearing like yours, but i don't have a clue how to get the parts. i managed to find the pillow block bearing but i don't understand how it will adapt to a taco driveline.

thats just the original part of the tacoma driveline that holds the stock carrier bearing. i just machines it a bit and made some spacers for it to it fit better and look more clean. you could just cut your own spacers from some dom tube (without machining them in a lathe) and use them. its really hard for me to explain clearly but if you got the pillow block and put it on where your original tacoma bearing was you'd understand what im saying. you just need spacers so that the yoke clamps on the new bearing when you tighten the flange down.

i looks weird to you because i took all the dust shields off and have those 2 dom spacers on there. but its the same part on every 2 piece tacoma driveline setup. i think even the 3rd gen trucks are the same.

-Matt-

got the sliders done.

heres our new addition..Myla, shes 8 weeks old

I get it now. I didn't see that those were spacers on there it looked like one piece of machined metal. Thanks for the help gonna order my pillow block now.

I'm always impressed when you update this thread  :smokin:

There is a good chance I'm going to copy your sliders, lol. What size material did you use for the sliders? Also on the slider skid did you just drill and tap the legs?

-Matt-

Thanks a lot guys I appreciate it.

All the rectangle tube I use is 2x3x3/16th its bomb proof and its the perfect size to do a lot with. And ya just drilled and tapped the supports. The plate is 3/16th and I counter sunk the holes with a hand drill. Hardware is 8mm x 1:25 stainless. It perfect for flush mounting with the thickness of 3/16th plate

Thanks for the info! Very helpful.

Sliders look badass BRO! Cute puppy too, I wish Shadow was a Yellow Lab instead of a N.W.A. member...

hahaha thats funny. has he become a well manured dog?

yota_krawler

no i havent wheeled it, I dont know where to go around here yet. It needs work to. no gears, no lockers, no cases, on 33s. so ya. I kinda just got it to work on here and there and wheel a little bit. When I come back Ill tear into it and change it all up.

He's still his goofy, slobber mouth, hard headed, stoked on life self... But he means A LOT better now and hates leaving my side, unless there's something to explore haha. Is she full blooded with papers?

I know Ive said this before but I do plan on keepin this one. When I got my 94 extra cab, it was a selfish build. This one is going to be low key, but efficient. I have more to factor in now days. Stability, budget, and safe is my top priorities for this one. I may even stop at a 35 or 37. It will be cool though. Im still hammering out details in my head, where I want to go with it.

sliders look good dude!  lots of time spent with the hole saw, i like it though.  hopefully each hole doesnt catch on the edges of rocks, thats the only thing i would worry about.

thanks, ya tell me about it. this time i used a drill press though since i was able to do it before i mounted them. made it so much easier. still took a lot of time though. and im still using my original hole saw from when i started my rear frame. around 100 holes though 3/16s.. and half of it was with a hand drill. lenox hole saws are awesome thing still cuts like its brand new. not worried about them hanging up. they should already hang up less than most sliders people run.

-Matt-

light bars are officially done. all sealed and ready to mount once i finish tube work. started on the DIY writeup today. might have it finished tomorrow. its gonna take me a while to put it all together clearly. it will be in the general 4x4 section on pirate for anyone interested

THK Matt
