Dingman.

Finished the passenger front tonight.  Added the same leaf, etc etc..  The whole passenger side is sitting higher by like 1-2" i dont know why. My only thoughts are maybe it rolled a little and the spooled rear is causing the gangsta lean.  :dunno:  will mess with it more later if its still a problem

Dingman.

Finished putting all new bushings in the front end.  Just need to mount my steering box/finish plating diver side frame.  Redo the shock mount on the axle on the driver side.  Buy/mount bump stops, driver side body mount and the front is done.
The front sits a little higher than the back.  Should i lift the back a little or leave it?

If the truck is not currently loaded with camping gear, I would raise it. Your new front springs will need to settle into the new set up after changing out leafs, things might level out for you out front. Sadly that is a down side with mixing leafs as you can get leafs that are stiffer/ softer then each other.

And you have plenty of clearance above your pitman arm right now, you should be fine there.

well looks like you are making good progress and are almost done, just keep on it and another couple weeks it will be done.

I've been alright, I'm finally gonna buy a motorcycle this month, and I'm selling my FJ80 to buy a truck so I can haul a motorcycle.

hope lifes treating you good.

Dingman.

You talking dirtbike or streetbike?

Dingman.

Got my steering box sleeved and plated today..

Heres my only concern.  Is this too much shank exposed on a 7/8" heim?   There is 3/4" of heim inside the the bung, shank is 2" overall, only 1" of threads inside the bung. Aligned the front today to 1/8" toe in and am not happy with how much i had adjust it from where it was when we measured tubing.  There is 3/4" of threads before and after the jam nut..  So what you see exposed is the amount that is inside as well.

OVRAROK

if the tube is hollow,no threads, you only have the depth of that nut, so any extra is just inside tube, not in any threads
Even the most primitive society, has an intimate respect for the insane.

Dingman.

That would be true!  The threaded section is 1" from what i can tell.  Im only at 3/4" engagement on both sides

you should be fine with 3/4'' I would think. Are those the chromo's and what size/type of tubing are they in? If so I have the same ones I installed on a Mack truck tie rod for my 4runner I scored a few years back, tie rod and ends are a bit overkill but better safe than sorry!

I keep waiting to see this thing driving, I kno its gonna be on the road soon!!

Dingman.

Should be any day now heath!

Got my body mount welded on and braced, as well as my steering system hooked up last night.

Boss made this real quick at work for me.

Just need to figure out how to hook the brake lines up at the master, blead brakes, fill diffs, make one more frame plate for the inside of the driver frame rail. get bumpstops and mount them, mount shocks, posibly add leaf to back pack, cut fenders, make front driveline and that should be it!  :gap:

Will be running down to napa autoparts in a little to pick up new fittings for the master and one 10mm-3/16brake line.  I will just need one line end cut off and then a new fitting put on. Other than that brake system should be done.  Had a buddy make a call to see if his friend could flare this line for me.  So hope that turns out...

You may be able to rent the flare tool if you needed it  :dunno:

I need to lift the back a little i think and trim the fenders badly.   Drove it around the block and my brakes SUCK.  I must have air in them or something.  bled the piss out of them and the pedal is super hard when the truck is off, but they feel like they barely stop the 4runner.

I need to mount shocks all around and a bunch of other little things like tie lines out of the way and what not.

Been almost exactly 6 months since i parked it.   :driving:

1985CRAWLER

sick! its finally out of the garage.

i say trim as close as u can to the rear door and set the bumps low.

add a leaf to the rear as well so that way when ur loaded down it doesnt drop too much.

as for the brakes i dont know

went with the m1730 brake master that was recommend on pirate.  Have not installed my proportioning valve but it doesn't stop good at all.  When its running the pedal feels really soft as well.  I bench bled it until there was no more bubbles so i feel thats not the problem.  went through a whole big bottle of brake fluid and a half of a little one bleeding the system.  :dunno:
