Chris was cracking the bleeders open while i pumped the pedal.  He said no more air.  All my brake stuff is new minus the front rotors/calipers/pads.  The 60 calipers seem like they have a bunch of play but they are supposed to float so i dont know.

86bobbedtoy

did you compress the calipers? a lot of times they will freeze up, you kno this, just makin sure

Dingman.

The passenger side compressed fine, didnt really mess with driver.  Ill check em out.  Might just get new brakes for front

curious how different it feels with the 1 tons, I guess you will probably have a better idea after the brakes are fixed.

Dingman.

me too.  I drove it around a little more just now to try to get the brakes to work better lol.

Also i just adjusted my drag link and centered my steering box.  Steering box stops turning at about 1/8" to the steering stops both driver and passenger.  :ugh:
So i guess i could have bought a slightly longer pitman arm or slightly shorter steering arms? but oh well.  i might just cut the steering stops off (nut is welded to bolt)f and get new bolts and extend them out 1/8".

I need to add the leaf to the back and cut the rear fenders those rear tires are hitting the fenders so hard if i take a turn too fast/sharp.. lol

Dingman.

Half assed attempted to flex it out to get an idea where to set bumps/cut fenders as you can see it rubs the back of the fender like crazy so i will cut that out and see what happens past that since it was stopping up travel.  As the front flexs now, i get more travel out of the driver side than the passenger side.  The driver front picture the threads on the bolt for the pitman arm was hitting the leaf there.  So i can grind probably another 1/8"-1/4" off and set bump there..   The passenger side is the last picture and what is stopping flex there is the drag link hitting the frame.  So i can either set bump stop or notch my frame out to attempt to get what maybe another 1/2"-1" like the other side?

twistedtoy92

I'd notch your frame for sure, it'd be well worth it. All in all the thing is lookin damn good! Get it all dailed in and post up some wheeling pics!! :beerchug:

I think he gave up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dingman.

My caster is way too steep so i need to cut off my hanger and drop it down more which im definitly not looking forward to.  I was looking at your old build thread Heath and i might just throw a piece of square tubing between the hanger/frame like you did before.

LittleSteve

Heres my  :twocents: worth.
Get boss man or yourself (whichever) to machine you this up and weld it into your track bar roughly above your passenger spring center line, shorten your drag link to suit.
Ensure that the bolt that attaches the draglink to track bar is perpendicular to the one on the pitman and put a spacer between the heim and the bar. See what im getting at??
this will be a damn site quicker that chopping your frame (again)

yeah I always had to have a piece in between the frame and hanger on rufs, even then its not insane, the caster will still handle fine, when they are to far off it can cause death wobble like no other

Dingman.

Didn't to anything to the runner this weekend. im burnt out on it.

Decided to try hydro dipping, bought this crap a long time ago and never touched it really. (gf likes pink camo so i figure one day ill build an ar for her :dunno:)  i think it turned out pretty good.  Sure as hell wasn't gonna pay the money people wanted to do this.  i think i got two rolls of film, and spray for like $40?

OVRAROK

ive been interested in this stuff for awhile, was it easy, looks good

Its actually not that bad.  I just did all that in a 5gallon bucket.  Would be a lot easier in a bigger container.

1985CRAWLER

dont lie mike you know thats for your own personal AR.  :ha_ha:

OVRAROK

I wonder if it hold up to heat

Dingman.

Id rock it

Dave idk how it will hold up.  A lot of it depends on the prep work/materials used.
I painted all the stuff pink with rustoleum like 8 months ago and its been sitting on the shelf in my garage since.
I just sprayed some clear coat over it.  I believe i read if you use high quality paint/clear it should hold up fine.  :dunno:  if it gets too hot im not going to want to touch it anyways, i shouldnt have to worry too much.

Dingman.

I kinda wanna dip some stuff on my toyota but cant think of anything really, plus camo is played out and only looks good on certain things,in my opinion.   You can get some wood grain film.  Wood dash anyone?  Lol

Just the "activator spray" and film.

Where are we going? And why are we in a handbasket?

My friend is goin to moan this weekend - RockcrawlinJK

86bobbedtoy

haven't heard from him in a bit, figured he took the easy way out and whacked himself, OR maybe he finished it and is to busy wheelin the piss out of it while the rest of us sit and wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dingman.

I haven't driven it in a few weeks.  I parked it back in the garage and haven't touched it since.  Just burnt out on it because i don't want to deal with fixing my caster/up travel issues.  One of my rear axle seals is toast so i gotta pull it apart and replace the seal.  I also am leaking gear oil out of where the pinon support bolts to the housing.  I think i will just silicone that and hope it stops leaking, everyone i talked to said the shims should seal it, but that didn't work for me.  Other than that, i think i just need to fix the caster problems which will involve making a taller drop hanger, or maybe swap leafs out to a pack with some arch, since the ruf pack is damn near flat.   Once all that is done then i just need to do bumpstops, trim fenders, figure out why my brakes are soft still (rebleed?), and a couple other things.  My transfer case mounts are shot, motor mounts are super squished so i need to probably replace those too, but i think that is about it...

86bobbedtoy

bust it out!! Did you ever get your girl that 22?
