Damn that sucks about the 4.7s. Hope they send you a new set free of charge. How do you like that stock sway bar in the rear? i have been tossing around the idea of linking my s10blazer in the rear, and using a sway bar like that.New page ownage!
that's odd... you think something else might be attributing to the premature breakage?
Yea i've heard that 4.7's are getting harder to come by... maybe that's why. I would also think that an output shaft or driveline would go before the gears, i've seen Hyena beat the hell out of his on the trail with no breakage.
Do they have a heat treat on them? If they replace them I would think of heat and/or cryo treating them. Just as an added precaution
I've beat on my 21 spline inchworm 5 to 1's with no issues, and they are supposed to be weaker. but then again I have like 75 horsepower and smaller tires.
upgrade to an atlas 2
Damn that looks rough. Lots of damage for not much stress. I can't believe that

is this a single case setup? duals? triples? which case was it?just curious...
since your have probems with the 4runner you could always send to me, ill take it off your hands
Well i took it out wheelin on labor day and broke another set of MC 4.7 T-case gears. This is really starting to bother me. i was climbing a 2 foot tall log with one front tire and the gears gave way!! if you ask me, MC has some serious issues to deal with on this product. i have been breaking them rediculously easy. my rig wasnt bound up, or even trying to climb that hard, and i was just letting it idle and crawl! didnt even use the HP my engine has. I called them and Joe in tech says they will warranty them, then i talked to Nickolas in sales and he says they wont warranty them these guys are already pissing me off. the second set of gears were brand new two months ago. they probly had 6 trailrides and 50 miles on them needless to say im angry.Im going out to pull the case and tear it apart right now........... pics to follow
I talked to MC and they might warranty them. i have to send them in so they can check em out. but since they are on backorder for 6 weeks i obviously wont be getting a replacement set before our event next month..... so i tracked down a set of stock ratio 23 spline gears that i am going to put in it for now just so i can use it. i will still have dual cases, just no 4.7 gears
i think your problem is something else. either it being that something is going on with the case to cause the gears to not mesh right. or maybe you just so happened to get a bad batch of gears...kinda a long shot but it happens. you can almost guarantee that a stock output will be the first thing to break after big tires and 4.7s. specially if your not bound up. make sure all the c clips are on where the gear shafts go into the bearings. they send the gear without them and lots of people forget to take their old ones off and put them on the new set. since their helical cut gears.. if the clips aren't in it can cause the gears to walk off the bearing a bit. wouldn't take much either. also if they were forgotten everything would work completely fine until there was enough pressure for them to move.unless i missed that you are running a chromo rear and front output then this is either shitty luck or i think something else is wrong. also (not taking to you pumpkin toy) but you cant even compare a 4.7 to a stock 2.28, completely different with the amount of stress it sees. also there are no other brands out there besides t.g.. and obviously mc makes the top of the line gearsets.
