Nope. YOU are confused.. STOCK= 30 spline at the hub, 27 spline at the birf and 30 spline at the diff.
27 spline longs are designed to fit onto your STOCK inners  :twocents:
The reason for the "30 spline" chromos from longfield is to keep them "warrantied"
IFS hubs are 27 spline and Bobby also sells a hub gear to make IFS hubs compatable with birfs (30 spline)

If you dont believe me check it out, I just slid a hub onto the diff side of my long inner axle which is 30 spline and then I counted them to double check

 :beerchug:
thats good to know.  obviously i didnt know for sure.  So most people usually buy the chromo hub gears just so they dont break as easily i suppose.  if i upgrade to 30 spline longs i dont have to buy hub gears, sweet!

oh i see,  yeah i'm not sure what to do.  I just dont know how dependable the 27's will be with the 40's.  Everyone says 30 splines are the only way to go for 40's, but it seems like i have never heard how long the 27's will hold up.
wow, that thing is just flat pretty.
thanks!  It's gonna look really sick when i eventually get the bob and dove tail done.

So i got my e-locker harness ran from the motor, up the frame, and into the cab tonight.  I wrapped it all up in wire loom and taped it so it should be really well protected. Tomorrow i am going to install the switch and hopefully everything will be completely operational for wheelin this weekend :best:

The chromo hub gears are a must with 40's, the stock gears break around 5500 and the 30's break at like 8700(not sure on either of those numbers but they are close) so your hub gear is the weak link. when they break they usually strip the splines out on the long and thats the only way bobby wont warranty them. I run the chromo gears in my DD  :gap:

so what you are sayin is that i should probly buy the chromo hub gears and just use my 27 spline longs and see how long they last?  I'm thinkin thats what i will probly do. Then i can spend my tax return on a winch instead of a 30 spline super set.
You better be bringing a photographer the weekend!!!
dude i wish i had a photographer that could go with every time!  Hopefully i can get one of my buddies to get quite a few pics and video.

yeah I mean you did have a hard time with the birf elim kit.. and my buddies truck hops like no other and he never broke em so I don't know. But my buddy cody, his login is coods he has the datsun and he's broken like 5 27 splines but he rallies hard core...but they send them super quick just sucks taking the axle apart. I would just run them untill you get tired of breaking them if you break them and then just sell them and buy 30s... Since they have a lifetime warantee there re sale value is pretty damn close to new.
89 extra cab stock on 1 tons.

My Runner has 4d's, ARB Chromo Axles/Ringed 27 Bobby long side, and stock Birf on rt side, stock hubs. I have never had a "self induced" problem. Zero breakage after 5 Rubicon Trips, 3 Fordyce. 2 Dusy trips, 5 Niagra Runs. I only use the locker, when I must. I try not to steer it much if I am using the locker. I go as slow as possible and If it isnt getting there I try slightly different lines. It goes everywhere I point it. The trick to not breaking hubs/birfs is not wanting to.

A rear ARB, 2 Cases and 4.7's, with Big Ole 3psi 40" Irocks help too!  :beerchug:  :driving:

Got the final install done on the e-locker this morning.  I routed the harness up from the diff to the rear x-member, on top of the frame rail and then up through a rubber grommet into the cab.  That all turned out really nice, i wrapped the whole harness in plastic loom and then sealed it all up with tape.  I drilled a hole in a switch blank above the cd player and my toggle switch fit perfectly into the back of it.  When i made the harness i ran the indicator light into the back of a stock rear diff lock switch. I then cut a hole and mounted that switch right next to my toggle.  So know when the locker is engaged, the indicator light will light up the stock rear diff lock switch!  Here is a few pics of the switch and harness.  I did a nice clean job with connectors and heatshrink.  In the last two pics you can see the rear diff lock switch in the middle above the CB.  The last pic show it lit up when the locker is engaged :bananaguitar:

Maybe they are 30 spline already, i dont know!

Get the hub gears and put those 27 spliners to the test! Bobby has a quick turnaround time, just bring a spare!

Nice work on the wiring!

I saw one at a stereo shop for $200 and liked it, went back to buy it and they didnt carry it anymore. So I went on ebay, bought 2 of em for $70 each and havent had a problem in 3 years. I take the faceplate on and off every time I use the truck too.

I bought an xrc8 on cl a while ago, but still havent used it. Looks like a nice winch, it is actually made by tmaxx. Smittybilt bought them out and put their name on the design. My buddy has the bulldog 9500 that is $400 on his crawler and it works great, plenty of line speed. Kinda looks like the same winch as the xrc10? http://www.desertrat.com/products/?id=4059

sweet i will go next weekend too. Then club run is on the 20th!  three weekends of wheelin :bananaguitar:  yeah he still wants to go toyota front. It might be a while though.  He has a mustang he is puttin money into.

So i welded on some tow hooks today. Also cut and fit a piece of heavy duty mesh into my stinger to help protect my radiator fan.  And i tacked my tube axle truss in place so i can flex the suspension tomorrow and make sure it doesnt contact the oil pan anywhere. I am sick of the regular boxed in style axle trusses that everyone sells, so i bent up and fit my own at work the other day.

Kinda looks like the same winch as the xrc10? http://www.desertrat.com/products/?id=4059
yeah i have heard about the bull dog winches too.  I really am hoping that xrc8 is pretty good cause it is a great price for a winch that comes with synthetic line and aluminum fairleed.  I really want synthetic line on my next winch, i hate cable!

ha ha   maybe you put the wrong end in the bender so it made it too short?  idk man. let me know when you are gonna bend another one. I will try to come over and give you a hand.
