I can wait to try em out! The runner is gonna a fun ride with both lockers, 5.29's, and shocks that are worth a :pokinit:.

I just checked those tg housings out, I wonder how many of those they sell? its not too hard to find a complete stock hp 3rd for around the same price as the housing kit they have.

By the way pumkin let me know when youre ready for a HP, Ill hook you up. My buddy is buyin this one from me, but there is another 80 at the yard im waiting for them to put out. Its a 94 too, may be an elocker  :crossed:
yeah dude you gotta hook me up!  i called our local import wrecking yard today and they want 450.00 for a used high pinion WITHOUT e lock out of an 80 series! those guys are high!  i could build a new TG HP with 5:29's for 50 bucks more.  I would deffinatley be interested if you get ahold of some more :eyebrow:  I dont remember now, can you run a HP in the rear too or will that F up the gears?  i dont remember if they are strong enough for a rear end

yeah i saw that on TG's website that they make them themselves. what exactly is rifle drilling?

Rifle drilling is when Toyota or whom ever, is building a third member and they need ultimate precision for strength and longevity, they put the bearing caps on the back of the third and then drill the holes through them that the bearings will sit in. Both sides are done at the same time. They drill from one side through to the other. So that all the bearing surfaces are exactly square and parallel to each other. Toyota does the same with their cam shaft and many other components. The only crappy thing is that you always need to make sure that the bearing caps that came with that third member stay with that third member. They are not interchangeable with other thirds even of the same make model and year. However you will occasionally find ones that will work together, but it's not common.

Absolutely not, do not run a Toyota 8" HP in the rear of your off-road truck. You will break!

damn dude! Thats probably what the import yards charge here too, I dont care to check.. lol. I like the pick a part I go to, the messicans know me pretty well so they hook it up. Its funny, they check everyones tools but mine, if they dont know what a part is they give it to me for free, and if im buyin a part whatever's attached to it is free. The illegals there work out great too, if i want a motor pulled give em $20 and a pair of vise grips and its in the back of my truck in 45 minutes. One time a guy cut his thumb off pullin a tranny for me, so I gave him a $10 tip and a green jarrito. He was still happy, his thumb landed up

I thought rifle drilling was the drilling of oil passages? Im pretty sure thats what it is in the marlin 30 spline output shaft at least. Could very well be wrong though, im not an engineer. In fact in high school I was voted most likely to live in a shack in the woods

I have heard a few success stories that a few months later turned to failure stories. Its like the tapeworm diet, you can keep it for a while and have great results, but eventually that things gonna have to come out of your rear end...

Yes this TOO is a rifle drill. I do not understand the difference between the two, I just know that when Marlin installed my cam's a while back, we made certain that all the cam journals and caps went back in the same place. Everything was numbered when we took it out. I asked why and he told me what rifle drilling was and why they do that.

Makes sense. I found out about number and direction the hard way at my first job. I took apart a $15k sprint car sbc and put all the parts on a cart, all the mains were out of order. my boss had to spend an hour assembling the thing and a set of bearings to find out what goes where... When you mix them up the crank/cams wont even turn over.

I totally agree, anytime I hear something like that, I have to ask; how long have they been running it? How many trails or how many street miles.

Ill still run dirty, terminator, judgment day, predator and all that good stuff but I want my doors to work and all my glass intact.. The green runner is going to be a slow buggy build, all im using is the frame lol. I would like to have kept it together, but I dont have a trailer and my tow rig just got totaled. Whats goin on with your rig? you been wheelin at all?

The skinner is back together! I love the 5.29's, just right for around town. Kinda wish they were 4.88's on the highway, but im likely going to buy 37's when these 35's wear out. New spring bushings and welding a bar between the shackle plates eliminated the little wobble I would get going downhill at 80-90 mph. The brakes are just awesome, super easy pedal and QUICK stops.. The front and back end feel much tighter and smoother with all new bearings..

I went out with a few friends and messed around in the sycamore area this weekend. The truck did great, but we didnt do anything tough.
