Awesome work! So, this may be a dumb question, but what about working on the engine? It looks like your brace is currently not removable, so what happens when you need to do major engine work? Cut it all out?

Yota87Truck

sick build!! Can't wait to see some action pics

Mossyrocks

Alright, finally got some more done.  Still need to box in and gusset the steering arms/drag-link bracket.  Everything clears though.  I guess the hydro is next on my list of things to do.

Steering box is mounted

The tie rod is 1.5" 1/4 wall sleeved with 1.75" 1/8 wall.  All the lower links are getting sleeved just like this too.

The drag-link and panhard are exactly parallel

The front is almost finished!!!!...  bout damn time

great job getting your draglink and panhard parallel.  Nice attention to detail.  That steer box came out pretty clean too.

I assume you are planning on boxing in the steering arms?  Are each of the holes on that sleeved piece going to be welded in to on you tie rod?

Mossyrocks

the arms are being boxed, i actually have to box alot of things.  And Im not gonna weld the holes, dont really see the point.

gotrocks

I see a point of welding them.  Its going to look bad a**.  Those are the kinds of things that set some rigs apart from others.  Your rig was cool before (I have watched it over on pirate) but it is now becoming a rig that definitely stands out from the rest.  Keep it going man your going to have a awesome 4Runner when you are done.

thanks alot man, Im just not sure about welding them though.  Im afraid theyll look less defined since they are only 1" holes.  Might take away from the 3d look it has right now.  Who knows though, Im so back and forth on everything when it comes to this rig.

Mossyrocks

Im there everyday, just let me know.  Bring some cash with ya, I still have some stuff I gotta buy....

Mossyrocks

steering arms are boxed, gusseted, and ready to go.

Now i gotta figure out where to put the air bumps.  My best bet is to put them on the lower links but Ive got heims on both ends so Im worried about them turning.  It might be fine if I make the bump pad shaped like a bowl though, keep the bump stop from trying to twist it.

I originally planned to make them land on the lower link brackets but then theyll be in the way of the coilover when its at full droop.

Any other ideas on this?

gotrocks

Very nice gusset.  Are you making all your mounts.  If so what are you using to make them.

bluetoy84

Awesome work man.

It's about time some of the southeastern guys get some credit. What part of TN are you from? I live about 20 min from the TN/AL line, so I wheel with a lot of TN guys.

Well I live in calhoun, but the shop is in cleveland which is about 15-20 mins north of chattanooga.  So I shouldnt be far at all from you.

gotrocks

But how are you bending the steel?  I'm assuming you have either a brake press or use a press and put in a die to bend the parts.

Cool. I wheel with a bunch of guys from Chattsnooga/Ringold area, you might know some of them. We are all going to windrock sep 5th.

You are about 1.5 hr.s from me. I'm around Scottsboro, AL. We need to get together and wheel when you get that thing built.

Been checkin' it out over on UY, very nice build...
Quote from: fortysixandtwo on August 27, 2008, 10:48:02 PMIt was just crazy to see this deer leap all suicidal style off this embankment right in front of us.

gotrocks

Are those th hunseeker seats?

If so how comfortable are they.  They seem like a really good deal for the price.

Mossyrocks

thanks everybody.

they're pretty comfy.  Not as soft as the oem leather seats but those were well worn in at 230k miles.  I bet theyll be alot better after theyre broken in.

As for the tubing, its just a jd2 model 3 with air over hydraulic.  Ive been doing it without the ram until recently.  Both my cages I did by hand, never again.

crawlerdan

holy crap man, how is it that ive missed this?? your front end makes me drool
