"Later, I learned that even though I engage 4WD my hubs are not automatically locking? Something about manual locking hubs I think. What's manual mean? I need to read a manual to lock them? lol  So I found these neat autolocking hubs and installed them. Sometimes they dont stay locked while I am backing up, but that's fine because I dont have a backup camera to see where Im going (like our RV) so I just simply dont ever back up"- BigMike

The easiest thing to make the inner panels with is a good PLYWOOD type paneling. Not the fiberboard stuff, the real wood. make a pattern with cardboard and transfer it to the paneling. When you are ready to cover it, use a thin foam padding and 3M's "Super 33+" spray-on contact cement. They should last about as long as the doors. When I finally got around to covering mine, I didn't use any padding, and there are a few "loose" spots that the padding would've corrected.
It ain't worth doin' if you don't have to clean up afterwards!

Build it, break it, fix it, repeat until your wallet is empty.

all you guys have some nice half doors on here. being on my 4th set of them i just gave up taking my time and making them nice, i mean i usually dent/scrape them within one weekend of running them. i also just leave my inner door panel bare, it makes for a good beer i mean aluminum can garbage spot and the other door holds my strap and some othe nic nacs

Will a 89-94 Toyota pickup doors fit a 98 Tacoma?  I know the body lines would be for sure different.  But would they bolt up and latch?

I don't know if they will bolt up or not.  I would imagine someone has tried it.

They look closer to the same size and shape than I expected.  Maybe take some measurements of each, or ask someone at your local yota scrapper?

What's the advantage to going about it that way?
