Yota87Truck

The pics look really good.  You have a very nice and clean rig.  I like where you mounted the hi-lift.  Looks great!

rcbro

thanks guys, taking it to the sand this weekend. Will try to get some action pics.

Took the truck out in the sand this weekend. Truck sucks when its trying to climb anything, engine just bogs down till it darn near kills itself. But I never did get stuck and when wheelin through the trails and what not it did great. Un-stuck about 6 rigs too. Didn't get many pictures or any video as most of the wheeling was at night. Spent the days riding the YFZ450.

Now onto my engine woes... I have a 20r motor in my yota running the weber carb. For the most part the truck runs awesome, idles great etc... But when I'm driving and try to push the pedal to the floor the last half inch or so of throttle the engine struggles under itself and tries to push but the truck slows in speed and its as if the truck is fighting against itself.

If I manually pull the throttle wide open the truck bogs and nearly dies. But then if I do it with the pedal the truck jumps in RPMs as it should. My buddy says it sounds like I need a new acelerator pump for the carb. But I figured i'd ask here first.

I've got new fuel filters, new plugs, new wires, new cap, new rotor, and new filter. The old plugs looked fine, engine doesn't burn oil and smells like its getting plenty gas.

Jud

If you can smell the gas that usually means you have too much. Lean it out some.  :twocents:

I installed some rear rock lights today so I can see alittle better when night wheelin. Harbor Freight had them on sale for $8.00 so I figured why not? Got these ones here locally http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=37350

Installation was pretty easy, minus having to route all the wires. The lights are on the rear x-member mounted in the stock holes. The cool part about these lights is you can rotate them left and right and up and down on the mount. After seeing them tonight I need to point them alittle farther down and face them out some.

Wow you really take some awsome pics of your rig.  I think it helps that its so clean. but sweet pics in the dunes

rcbro

Somethings broke in the front end. Haven't had a chance to check it out.

Ordered some rims at work with 4" offset but didn't realize they were 10" wide rims. so not sure what to do now

79toy20r

do you mean 4 inch backspace? because a 10" wide wheel should be somewhere around a -20mm offset. Just curious. What wheels?

82 HiLux

where did you order those rims? what options do they have for backspacing? i have looked high and low for a place to order rims from where you can choose. THANKS
82 hilux, bobbed, really fast 22r, 2 transfer cases, ARB's, 5.29's, 37" MTR's. Custom everything.

rcbro

4" backspace sorry. I ordered the rims from work, I work for les schwab. But you can also get them on summit racing. I'm sending the rims back I ordered because I don't want to run 10" wide rims. I'll be ordering some 15x8 rims tomorrow with 3.75"
of backspacing.

I ordered a new accelerator pump for my carb today as I think mines shot, going to do some work on the truck as well. Hope to be hitting browns camp the weekend of the 26th.

rcbro

Heading to Browns Camp this weekend so I went ahead and had Revenge Fabrication make me up a set of sliders. Now its time to save up for the rear bumper!

toyotanner

Got to finally wheel the truck for real this weekend. Scared myself a few times but did good. Came back with no body damage other then some scrapes on the sliders which came in handy alot! Went over alot of ground at Browns camp and went places I didn't think I could go. After some convincing and loosing a coin toss lol I tackled waterfall and made it up without a problem to my surprise. Didn't break a single thing all day! Really want to get lockers and some t-case gears now.

Got to watch some killer buggys and took alot of pics and some video too! All the pics can be found here:  http://s106.photobucket.com/albums/m270/rcbro/Browns%20Camp%207-26-07/

Will have video up in a few days.

Here's some pics of my truck from the day

We were everywhere, but I can't recall all the trail names. Mostly ran the hard stuff. We were on the back side of little rubi where the bronco broke, the harder side I guess they said. You can see in the pics where its leaking hyrdolic fluid (7-up, Firebreak 5, waterfall, some of crushers, can opener are the only ones I can think off, but I just followed the whole time lol)

rcbro

O.k..... Locker, rear bumper, or 4.7 T-case gears?

82 HiLux

locker now, 4.7's later.

did you make it up 7up?

oh and lockers first. because it doesnt matter how low your low range is you still need traction more.
