it is definetly worth the work in my opinion. ive saved my ass a few times now having the cases tucked up out of harms way...if you do lots of rock crawling i would definetly do it. the only thing i would do different is make a different crossmember that is eazier to get out of the truck (mine is quite a pain). also i would of made new motor mounts that raise the engine up a little to keep the drive terrain a bit more level. other than that i love it :thumbs:

Did you run pinion wedge's, my short bed yota with a "tummy tuck" the rear pinion angle is bad.

yes, i had them before i tucked everything up. i have a 4* shim in the front with angled blocks in the rear for now. my truck is also a longbed so that helps a little

well thanks for the help and you have a kick ass truck i have an 80 that i just got done building for the last year, two weeks ago and stage two build up is coming here shortly and i think flat belly is in the sights. thanks for the help.

nope....the windshield was already like that before. it got cracked really bad a couple years ago when i ran into a tree  :shake:...i got lucky it didnt roll on its lid

made some rock sliders for me and a buddy today  :thumbs:

here's the set we made for my friends 1st gen short bed





here's the start of mine...the just a bit longer then the first set....3 or 4 inches i think



i got them the rest of the way done tonight...gonna take my truck out to my buddies place to weld them on tomorrow...ill get more pics when there done. they came out pretty nice  :beerchug:

i like your truck!  i always enjoy the vintage look of the first gens.    and if you are going to build an exo on it, deffinately try to build it as tight to the cab as possible.  you might not want to take pointers from the dude in the red truck in the back ground!  lol

thanks....ya its getting a partial exo sometime soon. havent really figured it out yet...that red truck is my brothers :slap:...its his first cage hes built and its not that eazy to do so take it eazy on him. its getting cut off and redone anyways so it will be a lot tighter to the cab..

hey man I have a rollbar for a first gen to hold you over till you cage/exo it? at least you'd have some protection. trade for 1st gen exhaust parts or cash if you're interested

the new cage will be internal as I am not happy with the exo look on the 3rd gen or really any truck for that matter....I change my mind alot!
