did you shave the head or block??
The machine shop surfaced the head when they cleaned it up.  I'm sure they cleaned up the block too.  I moved the gear forward a tooth to where it was.

I still don't have a shop and it is a little nippley outside.  I did get moved into the new house, closed on it last friday, finally!!!  So I hope to build a shop this spring!

At least now I have concerte to roll a creeper on which is a big improvement from laying on the ground.

Okay, moved it back a tooth.  Now it definately seems to perform better above 3000 rpm, but now it seems quite sluggish below 2500.  Before it seemed like it wanted to run off the idle better but the performance above 3500 rpm was not as good...  Maybe I need to get an adjustable cam gear and set it in the middle of the two.  Any thoughts?

new smilie i found  :disturbed:
i would for sure get a adjustable

Yeah I thought about that...  Think I'll add a shop onto the back of the house on that end in the spring.
so  is the motor running better???
It is running...  Still kinda sluggish feeling off idle up to around 3000 rpm or so...  And it has to be cranked over quite a bit to initially start it.  But once it is started it idles fine and restarts easily.

With the old power steering box out of the way, this afternoon I removed the front axle and cut the torsion bar mount off the frame.

So far it is holding up very well...  I got a couple more cans to spary another coat on.  To insulate a little better or at least to give me that warm fuzzy feeling about it.  I just scraped off the tar like insulation stuff the best I could and then sprayed over it.

i compared the pads from my truck with the ones from the 95 4runner i bought, the runner (was a 3.0 v6) are MUCH bigger, they have 4 LARGE pistons, and the pads themselves are about a inch longer (more rotor contact)

i'll be putting them on my truck asap

i couldn't get mine off so i used a cutoff wheel and sliced it parallel with the splines on the shaft, till i got real close, then splashed some cold water on it and it cracked (where it was only paper thin) and fell off

Okay, got the arm cut off the box and the new one put on.  After paying $25 for a 13/16 drill bit I succeeded in getting one frame hole drilled to mount the IFS box with the mounting kit...  I also picked up V6 calipers and wheel studs and almost have the axle together and ready to bolt up as soon as Brown Santa gets here with my u-bolt flip kit.  Now, back to work, hopefully I'll have it together before dark!   :flamer:

Depends on the kit I guess.  Bolts are 1/2", but the sleeves that go through the frame are 3/4", and if you weld the sleeves to the plate first like I did, it dosen't hurt to go a little bigger with the holes.  And this would also make it much easier to do because if your holes aren't 100% in line then you can still get the sleeves through the frame.  I would go 7/8"
