Doof

minor difficulties? that doesnt sound to good. when i say that :pokinit: hit the fan twice over

DeMented Toys

Minor...   :hammerhead:  difficulties...

I got the driveshaft thing mostly figured out.  And today had a couple top spring plates made for the u-bolt flip and got the springs bolted to the axle.  Tomorrow I'm going to attach the driveshaft and get it where it needs to be then mark the spring hangers wherever that puts them and weld them on.  Then figure out this shackle angle thing for running double shackles.  If not I'll just have the machine shop make me a couple of new rear shackle hangers and cut the stock one off and use an 8" chevy drop shackle on there.  But they won't be open until Wednesday and I'm running out of time before Nasty.  If I had some metal I could make some myself...

So the to do list...

1.  Finish the chevy spring swap
2.  Put the bed back on
3.  Fix the wires the packrat chewed into so my dash lights and guages work
4.  Clean out the heater core or replace it
5.  Put the dash back together
6.  Bolt the seats in
7.  Duct tape down the shifter boot  :)

Go to FLAT NASTY !!  WOO HOOOoooo

I have a good heater core if you need it
I think I have one over in my parts field...  If not I may need to come up with one for a 94.

You can cut the origonal shackle hangers off with a sawzall and re use them. There is still enough material to reweld them to the frame after cutting them loose. This is what I did then I used some 3/8 flat stock from the local steel yard, and drilled the different sized holes in each end. I think the toy shackle hanger end was a 3/4 bolt, and the chevy either was 9/16, or 5/8....I'm thinking it was 9/16. I kept my rear shackles short and didn't need a crossbar between them.
I am partial to the single shackle setup becouse of what I have read. The only set of double shackles I have ever seen used just didn't help as much as I would have thought they should. :twocents:

I guess either way the shackle angle need to be around 45 degrees?

After they settle or before? I think that might be close to what I got in the rear after everything settled in.

:willynilly:  Got the chevy spring swap finished, swapped an 89 IFS rear under there, and got my lower shock mounts welded ontop of the axle housing.  I also and added a new rear crossmember.  I plated the insides of the frame right above the rear bumpstop location so I can weld in a new higher shock mount crossmember thing tomorrow.  For now I put the old shocks back on.

The price of metal is crazy high!  I just spent $80 on 3 - 42" pieces of square tubing!!  Ouch! :o

Even without the bed on it (for weight) I can tell a huge difference in ride quality!  It is much smoother, and flexes like a champ.

Didn't have time for poser shots...

I did however have time to get a wild boar roasting for tomorrow.   :eyebrow:

So in the morning I will put my rear brake lines on and try and figure out how everything (springs, adjuster, crap) goes on under the rear drums  :crossed: and fab and weld in my shock mount.  Then I can put the bed back on and start putting the interior back together...

Here is my double shackle setup with a bumpstop above it.  I'm going to weld a bracket to the frame between the top shackle so I can pin it to the frame for highway driving, ect., even though it would probably be fine the way it is.
