Do you have a shot from the top or back or front showing how far it sticks in?

No, I still have to test flex it the other direction because I'm not sure if this is the final location. heck I've already moved the top mount 3 times and the bottom mount 4 times.

He is going to get a 90* fitting and run it up through the fender and mount it on the roll cage. :dunno:

That is a good Idea with the angles shock to keep it out of the way of the tire!!! I know there is things to concider about effectiveness of shocks at particular angles.  Did you use something to determine an angle that works well?  Or just tried to get it out of the way?  I ask because I have been debaiting doing that to my rig because the tires want to rub on the shocks at full flex.

Coilovers are fully tunable, so I'm just trying to get it out of the way for the tire for now without using up too much interior space. I can tune them to suit later.

yes, a higher spring rate and more dampening in compression and rebound as opposed to it being mounted vertical.

Well there was no way for me to get the coilover over in there without notching the frame rail - So today, I pulled the cage out and the body off AGAIN and worked over the frame rails. And now I'm in the process of extending the frame rails slighly for teh rear winch and dual 2" recievers which in the future will be used for a spare tire mount and/or a removable storage bin.

KDXSR5

This is so awesome! So you are doing coilovers and not air shocks? Weren't air shocks an option at one point? Why no air shocks?

The idea of removable tire carrier and storage bin with dual recievers is awesome. I can't wait until this is done!

Are you still using the 110v for most everything.  :flamer: What model do you have?
I remember you briefly talking about it on the quasi build, and how you use .023" wire for EVERYTHING. With all the talk about needing a 220v it's amazing to see what can be accomplished with a 110.

Awsome build, your fab work is incredable.

4RnrRick

Got some more done on the rear crossmember / winch mount.

People always seem to me ask me what welder I use, so I figured I would just tell you now - its just the base model 110 Volt Lincoln with a Mig bottle kit. I use 0.023 solid wire and 75/25 gas mix. seems to work good for me......

SolidAxle

 sorry Rick. I try to find most stuff by searching for it.

I didn't like the look of the rear (too "blah" for me), so I tack welded on some scrap steel as a edge template and broke out the cutting torch. Then I recess mounted (2) Napa Tractor lights beside the winch for my backup lights.

Duffil

:headscratch:

wondering how you mounted those 50-620W3 lights...maybe inside the tube you have tacked on, just on the backside?

4RnrRick

Nothing special... just a welded on tab.
