well bought a new toy.. hf 90 amp mig....   cheaper than payin clowns at muffler shop to weld it on... (they wanted to put cat etc...)   besides i can learn to weld some... before going an gettin a good one..... i can still do some of the things i want to weld  on my truck... with a little practice

:woohoo:   is it capable to weld 1/4 inch??  not that you have 1/4 inch metal on your truck but :dunno:

cut a short stick of tube and try to weld it together, practice on a few pieces  before you get under the truck

its rated at more like an 1/8....... im hoping i'll still be able to use it on a few things.....  yeah ill practice a bit before i climb under the truck.... it aint nothing fancy.... just a cheap mig

i have been welding 1/8 with it most of my truck frame  on high and #6 wire speed   and a plate of 3/16   works fine .

I recommend
1. low
2. #1-2 speed
3. little welds stop then weld more befor the puddle cools

do not use the wire that came with the welder throw it in the scrap pile   get the Chicago wire at HF or even better  name brand.
