i forgot to get the carb cleaner, then got home and desided the 2 foot high weeds in the front yard needed mowed  so i tinkered with the lawn mower and it actually started :suprised:

well,  i got the head yesterday and went to work cleaning it and tear down.  man my arms and hands hurt :thud:



here is a bad pic of those little egr tubes in the exhaust ports, well those are gone now,  they just slow the exhaust down so



seals were really crusty :ack:

i wish i could have had it hot tanked but i needed it done before my surgery, i used a wire brush on the inside of the ports and the combustion chambers but the pics turned out really bad :headshake:

i have  decided to do ruf, an run ddl for a bit, f150 rears...  get it runnin so i can go down n help glen a bit...im sure hes got some projects he can talk me thru

my ifs axle i found came out of 2wd, so now not sure that one is gonna work....
gonna order front spring hanger kit from mc tues,hittn yards up for some f150 springs,front spacers
and of course what ever odds an ends i need to get truck running... know im gonna have to drive it into town to have exhaust welded....gonna be loud... :crossed:

theres a place on the heads to put them in a vise thats not a gasket surface :thumbs:

gettin parts swapped over..... 22rblock/20r head
few questions if anyone might be able to help

1.     this is an unknown aftermarket header.. with a thck flange welded on.....  what goes here?  the top holes that go thru to the head....new header comes with plugs ive heard

ok few more things to figur out
1  carb kit came with a block off for the bottom of this but has a small nipple 1/4" or so (port in the middle of intake ports).. where does it go?

2   hose that comes out of heater core.. use to go in the bottom of piece above.. whre does this hook too now?   run hose to the passenger side plate behind water pump,  or here on intake.. bout the same size

as soon as it stops raining i'll get a picture of my coolant hoses

that big one on the intake by the carb that points up is for a coolant hose,  the one kinda on the side is for the brake booster vacuum hose

i'm trying to find a diagram on the internet :inthedark:

cool bro.. only thing i dont know now is the one off the backside of the water pump(passengerside)... where it goes or block it off.... ty...
