yeah dipstick is in... its up high why i think its coming from spark plugs....... u call me a dipstick :) hehehe didnt mess with it very long... i will when i get home....

well    ws tinkerin on truck today, water leak fixed(pipe tape on threads for the lower water temp sender), oil leak fixed(small pinch in valve cover gasket),   something told me to check the oil, and  :yikes: oil was a bit milky :(((  not real bad just cloudy...s.o.b    ill drain it in the morn see how bad it is......frustrated

coolant is leaking past the timing cover gasket :woohoo:  at least its not the headgasket :ack:



your going to need to lower the oil pan,  most of the way, it doesnt need to come off, but the front needs to be about 1/2 inch dropped down

then remove the 12mm bolt thats in the oil pool under the distributor THEN you can remove the timing cover, 

you shouldnt need to remove the timing chain

k cool.. it never ran long enough to get hot barely register off cold even when i drove it to thoe house... good..... was hoping head wasnt warped...k     rad/oil draining so i can remove some of the oil pan bolts.... dist,alt,ac,ps water pump (water was clean)

remove the cam bolt and distributor drive, DONT REMOVE THE CAM GEAR

not really,  but you shouldnt need to mess with the chain or the gears,  i had to have messed up the gaskets in there behind the timing cover :headshake:

1/2 inch breaker bar and 19mm socket,  put bar up against pass side frame rail and bump the starter

gaskets look ok....  just on of the top holes looked a little misaligned.....not bad tho.. no tears in it

well  there should only be enough  rtv on the gasket 2 hold it in place there is a few spots where a little more is good 
also drop the oil pan a bit  if U have not done so  don't wanna bunch up the oil pan gasket or nick the head gasket when it's time 2 reassemble.

cover looks fine...scraped all goo off..wire-wheeled it smooth.....   headn to town to get gaskets,oil,antifreeze now......mebbe tonight ill try to fire it up... :crossed:
