I was looking around the intardednet for interior parts and didn't seem to be fnding much ao I started thinking about what I could do to save some of the woodwork that is getting BEAT.  Came up with a lovely idea to use the original and coat it with resin...then I can sand and paint it.
Even used some tape so I could recreate the indented tray portion.

wow, that is a myriad of parts under there. on all the ford we have ever had, they have been a foot pedal for the ebrake or a console mounted ebrake between the seats.... and hte hood release has always been right below the steering column.... almost looks liek the lever was there @ some point. usually right where the dual toggles are

I don't think they had a hood release on those vans.   I think you've discovered the right way to open it, just clean up the latch mechanism real well, and you'll be good.  Working on those motors with that hump is a PITA, my dad's chevy van is designed the same way. :headshake:

I don't know, I was poking around and there seems to be pretty good access to most of the motor parts.  I kinda like bing able to work from on top of it..I guess we will see soon enough.

No cable...I think it is supposed to be a double pull mechanism, cept these days the second pull requires a good hood pounding as well.
