I can remember gas at less than 2 bits... but I was young then, and I'm not sure if cameras had been invented, so no pics...   :gap:

For you young 'uns...they rationed gas based on the odd/even last number on your license plate.

I just got the Aug 08 Car and Driver, and there is a good write up by Csaba Csere, the steering column.  It's not up on their site yet, but it really explains how the Euro has doubled it value compared to the US dollar, and they haven't had any gas prices increase like we have.  Its' not there yet, but it should show up in this link, it's titled, "When gas hits four bucks a gallon, logic, research, and analysis go AWOL."  http://www.caranddriver.com/features/columns/c_d_staff/csaba_csere_the_steering_column   If not stop by a magazine stand and check it out, page 13.

But...what is the last number?

I really don't remember how it all worked...they may have done something like assigning each alternating letter an odd/even value.

It's been pretty steady in the 3.75-3.77 range for the last week or two, today there are a few getting down to 3.71...never thought that would look good.

Been $4.38 for the last two months almost.  The last two days oil barrel prices have been below $130.  Ever since a couple big financial giants reported that things are looking good.   :crossed:

I run Premium at 4.23 or so a gallon. the 1.20 more you spend to get the same amount of fuel...... you get that back in the slightly better fuel economy you get with running the 92 Octane.

saying that... can you safely add octane booster.... with the .10 addition? running at 102 octane... in a stock toyota?

Uhh, I'm gonna let those with specific Toyota knowledge tackle that one.

In general, all components of an engine need to be be designed to work together to achieve any particular desired result.

yeah thats true.... i know the more octane.... the better.... TO A POINT!
if you go too much octane in a street legal vehicle, it not only becomes illegal, but it starts harming :pokinit:.... therefore reversing the purpose.

i just dont run 87 octane anymore... its not worth it.
