Oh man, you gotta take off the tin-foil hat!  The ONLY people that will affect is the poor gas station owner.  What will happen when nobody buys fuel for 2 days?  They'll either buy it the day before they stay home or buy it the day they begin driving again.  What people need to do, and what has been helping drop the cost of oil lately, is drive less!  Reduce your dependency and the cost will fall.

I didn't realize this thread was 25 pages already  :yikes:  but it'd be a good idea for people to go back and read the entire thread to see what hair brained schemes have already been busted

saw 2.74 at the expensive station today, probably cheaper everywhere else

$2.87, $2.97 & $3.07 at the least expensive quality station in town.  The price has dropped $0.30 in four days.  It was $3.07 on the way home from work yesterday, $2.97 on the way to work this morning and $2.87 on the way home.

My question is this: do the people that worry about gas prices fill up a gallon at a time when prices are dropping so they don't pay any more than they have to?

Don't feel like I'm picking on you either  :therethere:  I'm just used to jumping on this kinda stuff because of how otherwise seemingly intelligent people keep passing the "gas strike" bulletin around myspace without researching it.  People are mad because gas prices are high, so when they see something like this they get emotional and amped up and want to do something to "stick it to the man".

I also caught a good friend posting a myspace bulletin about boycotting a local mcdonalds because they wouldn't give free food to the firefighters.  The only reason I knew about it was because they'd just covered it on the news, and what had actually happened was a guy went in saying he wanted free food for the firefighters.  The worker went to talk to the manager about it and the guy walked out before even getting an answer.  He then made up this story that the owner refused to give food to the firefighters and spread it around.

Good point.  And there are so many people asking for free things, claiming they are for firefighters or church groups or whatever, that even if a business wants to be charitable, they have to be careful before they give away the store.  There's so much fraud out there praying on people's good nature that it's harder for the legitimate causes to be treated fairly.  Besides which, the fact that you're a nice guy, or part of a group doing good things, does not entitle you to handouts just because you want them.

Back on topic, $3.24/gal here for regular unleaded.

Just dropped today to $3.19 at all the stations.  But is $3.18 at Fred Meyer/Kroger, but with club card you pay $3.08!!   :willynilly: :willynilly:

I saw 2.63 today. I filled up everything i own that ran well enough to make it to the station... two trucks, lol.

I went to Costco in Portland yesterday, and paid $2.859 a gallon.  It was sure nice to fill up the van for $50 instead of $70+.  I was used to the nozzle stopping at $75 all the time, and when it clicked off at $52.20 I almost did a little dance!!  :willynilly:

You see here is the problem with your statement, you are happy paying $50. to fill your van when last year you were pissed that you had to pay $50. to fill it. You are playing right into their hands.  Now they are gonna rasie the price again until we start crying that it takes $100. to fill up and then they'll drop it to $75. and we'll be all excited to be getting it that cheap.

:yesnod:  I seem to remember saying that some time ago too!  People are already getting to the point of saying gas is getting cheap, when a lot of us think if it were 1/3 what it cost now it'd be cheap, or the old guys would think if it were 1/10th what it costs now it'd be cheap  :gap:
