NICE!!!!!!

I put $40 in my truck last night, got 8.86 gallons @ 4.51/gallon, and that only got me half a tank (I hold 19 gallons).

$40 for half a tank. This is retarded. I am doing my part by driving my 50 MPG motorcycle every day but still..... wow

The bike costs about $12 a week to daily drive.

Global fuel protests escalate

MADRID (AFP) — Global protests over fuel prices intensified Wednesday as blockades by Spanish and Portuguese truckers heightened food shortages and traffic chaos, and their counterparts in Thailand and South Korea threatened to join them on strike.

In Portugal, the strike hit air transport as authorities at Lisbon airport banned planes from refuelling, except those on high priority flights.

"We cannot refuel any planes, except those on urgent, military or state flights," a spokesman for the airport authority, Rui Oliveira, told Lusa news agency.

TOKYO — Toyota is introducing a plug-in hybrid with next-generation lithium-ion batteries in Japan, the U.S. and Europe by 2010, under a widespread strategy to be green outlined today.

The ecological gas-electric vehicles, which can be recharged from a home electrical outlet, will target leasing customers, Toyota Motor Corp. said. Such plug-in hybrids can run longer as an electric vehicle than regular hybrids, and are cleaner.

Welcome to a captive market.  60% of all fuel usage is for commercial purposes and 40% is for passenger vehicle use.  So they effectively can raise it to whatever they want - even $10 a barrel in theory, and the food still has to be delivered.  The ships and trains still have to move...  And 90% of Americans have no choice as they bought homes miles from their work.

I'm eating a Cliff Bar for my entire lunch.      The rest went into gas - at $10 a day just to get to work.

On a brighter note, I've lost several pounds in the last few weeks due to not having enough money for food...    :disturbed:

(no, I'm not joking... spending so much for gas that my food budget is almost down to eating ramen and mac and cheese)  :headshake:

I have no food money either, I have eaten Ramen noodles for lunch and dinner for the last week, and nothing for breakfast. It sucks being poor. But on the bright side, gas is only 3.69 here, not 5 something.

Interpreting your dream....

Wild pig is the Big oil company out of control gnashing at anything and everything. They are now at everyones front door and they want in to take what's left, the only way to stop it was to kill it then and there. If you let it in you would have lost everything, no food, no TV no computer it is eating everything. To get to work you must give it everything, even maybe your 1st born. I'm sure the price of gas has put off many a decision to have a kid. So with it at your door you now can't even feed yourself since you must fend him off before he gets inside. Now the only problem is, since you killed the pig you won't get any gas.

BigMike

I just put in a full tank of 89oct into my Infinity G20 @ 4.69/gallon and I topped it off at exactly $60.00

This is my personal record, $60 for 1 tank of fuel. (yeah, yeah, it's small beans compared to many of you here)

I am on the motorcycle every day which only holds 3 gallons. So a full tank for me usually consists of about 2.4 gal which is under $13 for 91oct premium for a full tank.

But every once in a while I gotta fill up my truck or my car, and MAN I am always shocked cuz I only do this about once a month. It's like the last time I filled up the car it was like $42 for a full tank. Now it's $60. Unreal.

Haha, that's better than how I interpreted it!  I thought maybe it had something to do with a very, very large -- ummm, bikini he might have been checking out at the lake.     :o

Yeah, I have never put over $50 into my truck gas-wise before. That will change with my next fill up, guaranteed.

When I was DDing the KDX I would put gas in it every week or so. Premium plus bel ray 2 stroke oil (forgot the specific one right now) Those were the days... back when the 2 stroke oil was MORE expensive than the gas itself. Those days are long gone. Now the KDX is sitting in the garage waiting for a transmission rebuild and I am getting raped by gas prices driving either the 85 toy (17 or so MPG) or the 91 ford f-150 (11 MPG) or the 91 GMC 2500 (12 MPG).

Just curious, why are you running premium in the bike?  Is it required or just something you like doing?  I run 87 in mine and it only pings when I'm really chugging it, like when I pull into my driveway in 2nd gear at under 5mph and roll it on, and it only does it for a couple seconds or so.

The dream could be interpreted any number of ways, but it's probably stemming from a conversation I had yesterday with a coworker about pig hunting, and since everybody I know who wants to hunt pigs was there I'd assume it had something to do with that!

Luckily I haven't seen many piggies in bikinis lately, but undoubtedly I'll see more than my share running down the dock in full motion  :ack:

You know what's funny about that?  You see these posts pop up on craigslist every couple/few days days where somebody is asking for help.  It usually goes something like "need help paying utility bills or they'll be shut off in 3 days.  Please help, we have one baby and another on the way and can't afford to pay our bills!".  Poor kids are born to stupid people  :shake:

Just heard on the news saudi arabia is upping their oil production by 5%.  Seems they're worried the soaring cost of oil will hurt the global economy.

Just curious, why are you running premium in the bike?

I don't know jack about carbs, it starts/idles/runs so I don't touch it. After installing a UNI intake kit, I was supposed to run larger jets but did not. So it runs lean, very identifiable by inspecting the plugs. It gets better mileage with premium and has more power. It does make a difference, and when I only need a couple gallons, it's like, sure, why not :)

But it's kinda a good thing for mileage: If I had larger jets I wouldn't be making 48-52 MPG week after week. Last week I did a lot of high way riding and got 56 MPG (55.8), my personal best.

I know there is more potential to get a bit more power out of the motor, but it's running very efficient and plenty fast for me.

Yea, if you let em breath they don't want to run right on the same fuel.  My old f2, which regularly pulled the same mileage as yours, was a california bike and had fat lean spots on the bottom.

I wonder if you could mess with your needle height adjustment and air bleeds and make it a little less picky?  Have you weighed the mileage gains vs. the cost difference?

May be a bit more concerned about their own economy than that of the rest of us, though of course global economy and Saudi economy are definitely linked...   :yesnod:

A quote from an AP article in this morning's paper: "The Saudis are concerned that sustained high oil prices will eventually slacken the world's appetite for oil, affecting them in the long run."

Whatever their concern, I'm pleased to see any relief on the supply side, in the face of growing worldwide demand.  Now if only there were more refining capacity in the US...   :outtahere:
