im in the process of installing a rear sway bar, body rolls bad on off camber situations because the truck wants to lean alot but other then that its not to bad. Once I get that rear sway bar on it will help alot w/ body roll and will keep it from wanting to lean.

havn't posted on the truck in awhile because i've been getting ready for a wedding...

truck's pretty much on hold until I get back on Oct 30th.

going to be installing a rockstomper MC as well.

Your wedding?  COngrats.

The GM master will help immensly.  Do you still have rear drums?  I never got mine to work properly and finally swapped to discs and a manual prop valve.  What a difference.

Your truck looks great!

Shamb

Yea I still have rear drums, thought about doing disc brakes in the rear but I need the weight back there and as long as it stops then i'm fine w/ that.

I'm going to start working on it this coming up weekend, saving for coilovers in the front.

Well dont expect to see much, his rig is already set up for coil overs. It will be a 1 for 1 swap with is air shocks, bolt up and go. The only noticable difference will be body roll.

Hey shaner, save some cash and go "slinky overs" .. Dude we could have them duct taped on tonight!

Hey Shamb, just as a heads up, we run regular ol' speakers in the wakeboard boat. 90% of newer style speakers are all man made material's that are naturally water proof. We have gotten them pretty wet from going in and out of the boat and they still work just fine. The ones that we run are an alpine 6 1/4" hope this will help.

Kevin

Shamb

right on, thanks Kevin. I'll look into the alpines, all alpines or specific models?

Yea the coil's will be an easy bolt on swap for the front, i'm going to run a swaybar in the back and leave the air shocks on (for now)

i'm going to getting another project tomorrow or the next day, this wont discourage my truck though.. i'll still keep plug'n away at it but this other truck's going to be a lighter/cheaper build then this one thats for sure.

updates soon to come!

putting coilovers on the front within the next few weeks, blew another airshock.......  :shake:

i'll be rebuilding it and putting the two I blew on the back and selling the two good ones.

debating on what coilovers to get, for the price it seems like Sway-a-away's are fairly cheap at $390 a piece.. dual rate w/ resevoir.

Or I can go to a local shop that builds them for $500 a piece... going to be exploring my options. If anyone has any personal experiance with different types of coilovers i'd love to hear your reviews (pro's / con's)

Thanks.

Check out the Walker Evans coilovers at All Pro. I have heard good things about them and they are 699 I think?

KYOTA

just kinda skimmed the thread  but were you having trouble with the airshox just in the front cause of the 2.0s and too much weight? they are working good out back?

Shamb

Yea Kyle, they work great in the back. Like you said... the major issue in the front was weight that was causing the 2.0's to have so much body roll.

I still plan on putting a sway bar in the rear with the 2.0's just to ensure a bit more stability but as for the front I think the coilovers will be able to support the weight alot better.

I still need to do some research on what spring rate I need to run on bottom and top coils before I make my selection. I'll probably give Shaffers a call tomorrow and see what kind of advise they can give me.

I called 4wheel parts about some Sway a-way's and I dont think the kid I talked to knew wtf he was talking about. He quoted me $265 for dual rate 2.5" sway a-ways with a remote resevoir... then I proceeded to ask, "Thats everything right?  shock, coil mounting hardware and coils?"  He said yes at first.. then said "wait oh no with the coils it'll be another $100"  but that is still really cheap.. $365 for a 2.5" coilover w/ remote resevoir is close to $100 less then anywere else i've found

Hey bro I have some MTX Audio 10's in Q-logic pick up style boxes that I am certain would fit behind you seats. If you want em you can have for ...  a set of 63 inch springs.

I drownd my amp in the old Ford though, it was a 600w and they hit plenty hard.

I have a set you can have for free. I think one might be a little bit bent. But they are free so.......

Shamb

63" chevys?  if you have them i'll take them off your hands for free.

Btw plans were to order the coil's this week BUT.. I blew my wad on a new guitar... oops!

No big deal.. I didn't have any plans to wheel it in the near future anyways.. still got a few things that I need to work out.

I keep saying this, but I think I will have coilovers setting on the front of my truck by the end of Jan. no later dangit!

Very nice build  Do you have any specs or part numbers for your hydro setup? Also how did you get 15" wheels to clear the 1 ton brakes? Once again nice rig.
If you still have control you aren't going fast enough

Shamb

Yea i've got specs saved on a txt file on the comp. What specifically do you need?

I've been meaning to get some pictures of the links/setup close up now that they're done.. and a close up of how the hydro's mounted but my camera took a dive and i've had troubles getting a new one.

Those 15" rims are reverse cut with a 3" offset so it makes the stance much wider.. .I grinded down a good 1/8 to 1/4" off the calipers to make the rim fit without any rubbing. Rim only covers about 2" over the caliper so it wasn't that bad.

Planning on getting my coilovers this weekend, wifes b-day is also this weekend so I dunno how much that's gonna hit the wallet yet... we'll see..

Plan's are to be sitting on coilovers beginning of Feb.

What ram are you running? How long of a stroke? What orbital valve and pump are you running? Did you buy a preassembled kit or piece it together yourself? That should do for the questions for now. Thanks.

Shamb

Its an 8" stroke spencer ram, I believe the orbital valve and pump are from PSC. It was all preassmebled and just slapped together.

I ordered it all as a kit from a local 4x shop, had to go down a size in the valve because it ran to fast as first. Now i'm in the process of draining all the fluids and going to a light power steering fluid because it whines alot, just trial and error!
