AZ style jagged razor rock and slick granite like we have here in CA.

How much weight you got on that Toy?  Takes alot of weight to make those sidewalls crinkle.

Good progress so far though, can't wait to see the finished product.

I would buy the good old TSL. Seems to be an overall good balanced tire that does everything well. Cheap by nowadays standards.
If you still have control you aren't going fast enough

DTB

they look very similar to me...the sx looks like a tsl with thicker sidewall dunno :dunno: Those sidewalls definitely look like they could confuse the mud which is good

Trail-runner

IMHO, I think the SX is the best tire for his location (midwest).  The side walls are the toughest I've seen.  I asked about this on PBB about 3years ago.  "which tire is the best Central US to the east coast?" The SX was the tire of choice 10 to 1 over the other tires. IMO they were right.   BFGs and MTRs work well in some places, not here. I have BFG, MTs and ATs.  I have a   DD so that is the only reason I decided to run them (tread life over offroad performance).  I have also ran the SSR, now this tire has a weaker  side wall.  The tread preformed better than the BFGs, but not near the tread life. The only other tire that I would go with is the Pit Bull Rocker.  Not too many of them around.   :twocents:

BLACKDOG

Hey DTB, RUGER ran the SX's on his truck, and switched over to MTRs recently.  His truck was seriously limited to 65mph tops on the freeway, and the ride was absolutely miserable.  Threw on the MTRs, and he can cruise at 75 mph with a lot less discomfort.  Also, you can run the SX's at 60mph with 0psi in them  :yikes:   I was with RUGER when this happened, we got out, and the tire looked a "little low"  Those sidewalls don't flex for crap IMO, but of course, you do have a tad bit different wheelin terrain, so you may be happier with them.

Also, do yourself a favor, and get a good velcro strap to go around the fire extinguisher.  I used to have mine mounted right there in my dodge, and that strap it came with (looks the same as the one on mine)  popped loose and I got nailed in the back of the head.   just a "heads up" for ya

Truck looks good, I like the stripe :yesnod:

yeah i have a set of super swamper radials and from what i under stand they are almost idenical to both of those tires. and yestarday i was driving home from work and i found a :pokinit: load of free fire wood and i loaded up as much as i could stack in a lond bed and i loaded it down a 1/4 from the bump stops with 7psi and i barley got that much side wall flex. oh yeah it's also cool to put it in low 2wd and pop whelies down the street and scrape bed on asfalt. my neighbors think i am crazy.

Oregon Crawler

Thats funny you say that!!(wheelies) When I lived on the coast, I was messin around in a parking lot, and got the front tires of the ground a few inches, so I thought cool. took the shocks off the front, and cranked the torsion bars up all the way, and dragged bumper it was awesome and fun. but moved over here to southern Oregon and my friends over here don't believe me. If I only had IFS still.

You can go through life being scared of the possible, or you can have a little fun and tease the inevitable.

Give a man venison, he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to hunt Blacktail, he'll be frustrated for life!
