I know. I like that part of it. Only thing that could wear out is the main journals. But with those I suppose you could always build them back up with brazing then line bore them.

It should be ready in time, but I don't plan to go to MCR this year maybe next year though. We (myself, Zippo and RockcrawlinJK) are thinking of going to King of the Hammers this year for our big trip. Then we are thinking about going to do some wheeling in Idaho when Steve is here.

Realizing that we may be attempting to accomplish too much with a goal of building old blue version 2.0 and find a job for Steve and conquer an out of state trail. So we are now going to keep our adventures within the Washington State border. This is good because Steve hasn't seen what Washington has to offer yet.

He has three build threads :dunno:, but I don't mind if this topic continues here. I started it.  :blah: he does have access to some really cool stuff. And we have discussed doing something to get more of it over here.

My Pistons came from Steve on Friday. So yesterday I took them over to the machine shop to find my engine in exactly the same condition as it was in two months ago.  :bull crap:

wow very interesting read, your build looks awesome!! hopefully everything goes back together just fine :crossed:

I'm new to this kind of build but from all of my research so far the 1kzte looks like the best fit for a 4wheel drive little pickup truck. i've looked at putting vw tdi's in a toyota which i just dont think they have enough displacement to handle the truck, i know that you can mod them to make all kinds of power but then the question is how long will they last being all tuned up. i've looked at the mercedes om617 which are getting old outdated and hard to find parts for and i think under powered for a 3 liter. I think you guys are onto something here.

really looking into doing this build myself. i really like the 89-95 4wd toyota's extended cab just not a fan of the 3slow v6 they put in them, a turbo diesel looks a lot better to me.

How's the engine coming, any updates?

No updates on the engine. The machinist has the sleeves but is screening my calls. However I bought a Warn 8274 (my favorite winch!) off craigslist last week and have started new front and rear bumper designs in CAD (Cardboard Aided Design)

If you want a reinforced (swagged?) Loop, here's what i bought for my 8274. It's 150ft from warn. That's the Warn part number.
I got it for about $150 from 4wp

I don't want synthetic.. especially if it's cheaper lol.. show me 150ft of quality synthetic winch line on eBay for less than $150... :headshake: lol
but mostly because whenever I've winched, there have been some rocks and sand/gravel mounds to winch over. Synthetic is really great but I've yet to see 150 feet of quality synthetic with the UV protective layer like the spydura or trail gear or anywhere for less... in a few years I'll have some more cash then I might be interested in synthetic but to each his own
