Today I walked outside to get in my car which was parked behind the garage and something seemed a little odd. I walked around a bit and then realized that my rims and tires were gone  :headscratch: I cant believe this! You just can't leave nice American Racing aluminum 8 lug rims in a stack outside the garage for months on end anymore without some punk helping himself :smack: Maybe I should put the center caps in the place where the tires were for him. Oh well I guess I don't have to store them anymore.

The shackles are 9" long and hopefully will shoot my pinion up a little. I used 3/8ths steel and painted them with the usual Rustoleum hammered gray. For the breather I re threaded the hole then got a 1/4" NPT barbed nipple. I welded a scrap piece of tubing around it so it wouldn't get busted off. My new Crager 15x10 soft 8 rims came from Jegs today. The beadlocks have been shipped from Copperhead Fab in Texas and should arrive soon. The Co2 tank came a few days ago. Brian the owner of Ultimate Air cut me a smokin deal on his old personal tank for 150$ shipped with new regulator, handle and mounting bracket. I filled it up this morning at a local welding shop for 17$. I got my rocksliders halfway done and hope to have those mounted soon. I think that is about it for now.

The beadlocks were 235$. I sent him a picture of the custom pattern I wanted and he appears to be offering them now as one of his normal products. Oh well so much for being the only one with that design. I was really impressed that he will cut custom patterns for no extra charge though. I can't wait to get them all welded up and mounted.

Does anybody know how much pressure is in a freshly filled Co2 tank? My gauge reads 500psi which is only a quarter of the way up the gauge. I thought they were supposed to have way more pressure than that.

Thanks. The chart doesn't go low enough but I get the idea. The tank was about 30 degrees so maybe 500 psi is believable. Or maybe they didn't fill my tank all the way. Oh well I can email Brian at Ultimate Air to see what it read after he had it filled to be sure.

With weld on beadlocks does the weld bead need to be ground down? I am thinking it must be ground down but it would be nice to leave it. I picked up 1 3/4" long bolts I hope they will be long enough.

ya grind them all down smooth then take some soap and cover the seam then use air from the bottom side to find your leaks... i did the same thing to mine it takes time you wouldn't beleive the spots air finds it's way through

I got one mounted up yesterday. I will post pictures later today. I am very happy with how the beadlocks turned out.

www.copperheadfab.com  He is about the same price as everybody else but he is willing to do custom designs for the same price which is huge since other places add over 100$ to the price for custom programming. They are plasma cut as opposed to laser cut but for the price I paid I can't complain. He is also out of Texas so he may cut you a deal on shipping.

The soap trick is a good idea. I will do that on the other three wheels. The first wheel is always the one that doesn't turn out so good. In my excitement to put the first one together I forgot to put in the damn valve stem. I had to reach through the back bead and fish the thing through. Thanks for the tip.

Here is one of the tires all mounted up. The way I got the back bead to seat was lube it up good with dish soap then run a ratchet strap around it really tight so it can just be aired up with the air hose and valve core in the valve stem.

I have one set of flame beadlocks left if anybody is interested. 235$. Marcus and Gittinit I will see you both soon if you want em. I am gonna try and sell them locally but if you want em let me know.

I have one more tire to mount up today and replace the water pump on the truck. I was ambitious when I got home from the bar last night and mounted up the third tire. I should have pictures of the tires on the truck pretty soon as well as my rock sliders and master pull winch cable.

What happens if you run a roller fairlead with synthetic winch line?

Steel hawse fairleads have a coarse finish and will tear up synthetic rope, while roller fairleads will pinch and break the rope if it gets caught in between its rollers. They can also compress the rope during hard pulls and the frame for the rollers can also cut it. U need the smooth machined finish aluminum (or synthetic material) for the rope to slide on

Thanks I guess I will order the synthetic fairlead from Sky.

I just mounted the tires on the truck, bolted in my new shackles, got my rock sliders done and installed my 1" axle relocation plates. I will post pics tomorrow. It is looking pretty mean.

The remaining things to do are water pump, rear shock hoop, and finish rear bumper.

synthetic or aluminum?  when i said synthetic i meant the fairlead not the rope. Thermoplastic or Delrin. They make entire fairleads or replacement rollers

Synthetic. It is made from the same material as the rope I think.

Thanks. The right rear tire has 2 huge leaks in the inner bead and it goes flat within 2 minutes on the truck  :headscratch: That is odd with a brand new wheel. I will have to bust the bead and see what is in there.

did u check for leaks when u welded the inner beadlock on? are they reduced diameter inner ring? or full size? maybe it was not bolted down evenly creating a leak?

I got lazy and never checked the welds but they looked air tight. The inner rings are reduced diameter. I mounted the tires with dish soap so I sprayed water around the bead on the backside and got all kinds of pretty bubbles where the air was coming through. I'm sure there will be leaks from the beadleaks but that is fine as long as I can make it a full day rather than a few minutes.
