I did something similar to my old 85 Nissan.  But I used pop rivets instead.  The issue is, over time, the diamond plate will polish up, and become smooth.  Need either oem pads.  I even tried 3M grip tape, and on hot warm days, the glue would soften and cause the tape to slide.

i have had this truck 8 years, put less than 8000 miles on it.  I haven't had any luck with keeping the OEM stuff on the pedals.  it will probably be a long time for these to get smooth :gap:

cool, thought you had to have a press.  may pick up a couple of the smaller sizes sometime if I can find a decent price down the road

added a set of MRAP retractable shoulder harnesses.  Should make the trail a little  safer and more comfortable than the normal 4 point harnesses.
The anti sub belt will be removed

haven't really done much to the truck lately.

After paying $42 to refill my CO2 tank I started looking for alternative fast air sources.I thought about a Viair system but didn't think $400 was worth it.
Decided to give ebay a shot with a seller I have had good luck with in the past, picked up one of these, only bidder at $99
Heavy Duty 150PSI Portable Air Compressor 12V High Volume Extreme 35" Tires | eBay

It basically looks like a generic Super Flow MV-90
it sucks a ton of juice but is fast

Filled the empty 35x12.50 from 0 to 30 psi in a little over 2 minutes

This looks like the same one that Smittybilt sells. My local 4wheelparts guy was talking these up making claims similar to what you are confirming above. Maybe he wasn't bullshitting me after all. Your ebay link doesn't work above buddy.

I'll have to repost the link from a PC.

Sunday night replaced my tie rod ends, took it for a test drive..life was good.
Headed out monday for a Run out at Tillamook State Forest and all was fine until about 2 miles from the meet up spot and had death wobble from hell..checked lugs and they were fine.
turns around and drove the 20 miles or so home not being able to get above 30..it sucked.

Scored a set of trunnion bearing eliminators cheap so started the tear down today.

They look pretty good compared to the stock bearing, finding someone local with a press may be a challenge though

Dirty 30's were installed about 6 years ago by a local guy who needed some $ and I didn't have time.
He didn't mention that the driver side must have had a blown birf at some point, not chunked up too bad bUT not as clean as the p/s

drivers side

Passenger side

Axles came out now And easy and looked awesome

It was nice to see the inner axles seals still in good shape

Thanks Guys.  Became a grandparent a few years earlier than expected but sure wouldn't trade it for the world.
been spending a lot of time with Tatum, but need to get the truck back on all fours.
I was trying to talk the missus into an ARB equipped third for the fronT since the front end was already apart but negotiations were unsuccessful
Oh well

Scored a used Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 in awesome shape dirt cheap that should come in handy
download the FSM and will make some procedures easier

Download some trail maps and it can also double as a big GPS

Nice!  I been thinking of getting a tablet lately.  There are times I am in the shop, and need to look up something part wise, or troubleshooting, and I have to run back to the house to look it up.  A tablet would make things easier.

I have a tablet but there only good if the shop is in range of the wee fee,  if you want FSM's hardcopy is the way to go, they dont ask permission to do anything, dont go flat just after youve walked thru the shop door, they dont make stoopid noises and dont mind being dropped or if you drop tools on them, they also have the same information on them every time you open them and dont refresh or lose the page your looking at every damn time you pick it up, you can also turn the page and it will actually have the info your looking for on it, not 'internet connection lost'
Im not bitter, honest.
Oh and they make better fly swats than a tablet.

Little Steve, I have a phone line and a WiFi in my shop.  It's my little happy place.  Stereo, fridge, BBQ's, and tools.  What more does a man need?  Well there is that, but things dry up after a while, and hence the reason man needs a shop, to take his mind off things.

I have switched to using the girl's galaxy tab coupled with Gaia GPS loaded with gps tracks of Tillamook and Naches on the last 2 trips. It has made the navigation on the trails 10 fold easier. Of course I always make sure to have a paper map backup however with this route the girl gets to be more involved (navigator) and not bored so easily. Also I haven't gotten lost yet using this method. I'm pretty sure I'm hooked on it.

megaphoneman

hey do you have some input on how you mounted your cage/body? and what works what doesnt for the fiber glass body?

dropzone

Hey Marshall-
Here you go
Frame to fender well mount

Center hoop

Haven't noticed any cracking in the fiberglass.

Something like this would probably be the way to go
