http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=972000 My build as of 4/23/11.

I will start adding everything here too from now on.

kdub0013

I got some morework done today, I do not know how to copy my entire build over here so go check it at PBB.

kdub0013

Finally after two full days spread over two weekends got everything done. Drove her home about 20 min away down the freeway at 60 and did great! I opted out of the stabilizer since I will be setting up ram assist real soon! :D

Here is the ride height, I am however still doing the Davez anti death wobble shackles up front at 5" shackle bars to lower the front a bit and if I have to I will lower my front hanger anyways since I have to gusset it and cap the ends and all that!

kdub0013

Here is one of my dual case shifters now, but soon to be twin stick :smokin:

kdub0013

So what's next square tube front driveline, ram assist, lengthen rear driveline, exo cage over cab, twin stick. I also need to do a new clutch.

kdub0013

So I'm an idiot went to change out my stock pins to the marlin ones and the center hole of the high steer is 1" so being the crafty guy I am I took my high steer arms to the drill press and they aren't perfectly centered so now I'm not sure if these are good to use and if not I ruined my high steer arms . I think I can get them seated and torqued but is that recommended and would that cause more stress on what stud than another even being arp and a 5th stud?

It looks like marlin is out of stock on these as well so I am a bit fawked.

kdub0013

Finally I can start updating my marlin thread from my phone, anyone know how to copy over an HTML version of my thread on pirate to bring it over here too?

kdub0013

I have a build thread already over on pirate if you care to look at it. http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/toyota-truck-4runner/972000-project-hippie-killer.html

Now that I figured out how to upload html photobucket pics from my phone I can copy and update all my threads

What I have so far is a DANA 60 front kingpin with yukon spool, yukon 35 spline outers, longfield drive flanges, ARP studs, HI steer arms, and diff armor.

I have a DANA 70 FF rear that will be geared 6.17 to match the front.

The rig currently has duals behind a g52 and 22re with 4.7's and twin sticks in the rear case.

kdub0013

Sold my 39.5 iroks to dirtyjed and stepped up to these 42's  8)

70 rear

kdub0013

Hell yeah!

Finally figured out photobucket and uploading pics from my phone, fawking technology what a thing.

Tierod

Also got my ram today and its about 3x the size of that dinky 1.5" trail gear on I have now

kdub0013

I am all set in the shop now. Finally got some new circuits ran for my tools and welder. I ran another 20amp 120v circuit because the 15amp ones these newer home builders put in the garage don't cut it, not to mention they are in the ceiling or one where you don't need it   ::) hopefully getting my 42's today and my 60 front is shipping out from oregon tomorrow. Once I can get the axles underneath the rig I can really start moving forward.

Plan to this date:
60/70 combo

42's

Ram assist for now

Relocate gas tank to rear of truck

Flat belly which means mass cutting of cab floor. I am also planning on lowering the bed a bit just behind the front seats since the gas tank will be out of the way for the seats.

Finish back section of cage and tie into frame.

Weld cab top back on (no glass) and canvas the back half.

kdub0013

Well started pulling everything off the fenders and the bumper is coming off. Guess I'm going to dove nose this bisch. Either way I have wanted to redo my hoops for a while now so this will be my chance. Got all the steering :pokinit: out and ready to ship out if someone buys it. Thought about redoing the bumper for the dove nose but don't think I will like it so I'm not going to butcher that thing up. Debating on ripping the on board shower crap out too since the wife has used it once since I put it on the truck. Besides I need to sell :pokinit: to source my full hydro :smokin:
I also removed the radiator because it had a small leak, so time for a 3 core and I'm going to run electric fans on a toggle which will be better for the creek crossings at fordyce anyway.

kdub0013

I know I know another god damn picture of my 60 front but it arrived today :smokin:

Time permitting I will hopefully have the rear axle under the rig this weekend.

Also in my research of hydraulic set ups and double vs. single ended rams, I came up on this article and thought I'd share

Technical Discussions - Setting up hydraulic steering? You need to read this...

Fairly Barney style if you ask me and I like that. I have this single ended ram and a beefy tie rod so I would much rather utilize those then spend extra money on parts I don't need. I'm not a Koh racer so single ended response will work for the trails.

SNOW WALKER

Nice build. Keep the pics coming.
1986 4Runner turbo sas high pinion,E-locked 4:88's,taco rear Detroit locker,22ret forged everything,
duels mc07-r10 cut 42's.

TheChewMaster

Glad to see her coming along with the one ton swap. Saw your armor is up for sale as well. Got a plan for a new bumper? Just going to fab up a similar one to the gsm plate bumper, since I know you we're putting many of them together for Steve, or do a tube style. Personally I love the plate bumpers, but if I went tube I prefer a stinger with loops going around the head lights, ill dig up a pic. Glad to see you're sharing with the marlin crew as well.

Ps I suppose you won't need that heim/toyota ifs pitman arm, since you're going full hydro, just pass it along to someone who needs it

No plan on the bumper as of yet, I didnt want to hack up something that could be used on another application. As far as the pitman arm I will definitely pay it forward, you won't see it on my parts list for sale  :gap:

kdub0013

Nothing crazy but I got the 70 bolted in and pinion angle set. I will tack before I pull it out and have the gears setup. Need to swap in disc brakes as well.

kdub0013

So I'm going to set the front up first and I am debating stretching the axle forward another 1-2" just to insure my tires are staying out of my firewall. The rear axle will need to sit tight until I cut the floorboard out and raise my drivetrain so I can make sure I have the best pinion angle since the tcase would be up more, is a flat belly really worth all the trouble?

kdub0013

Got my front hanger and bumper off, what a bish that was. Sawzal and angle grinder all the way baby!

Need to get my front hanger and offset shackles for the rear now.

kdub0013

So I just remembered I had this fan I bought off another pbb for cheap a while back, not sure what its out of but it looks fairly new and it pulls a ton of air. So I guess it's getting mounted inside between the engine and rad. Anyway it's 16". I guess the plan is use this and I have a hvac sheet metal buddy that can have his shop build me a shroud. I need a 3 core I assume those are stock dimensions just thicker?

And completely random, I started drawing up some beadlocks for a buddy in CAD. Let me know if anyone needs some :pokinit: done up in CAD or inventor.

kdub0013

Got this barely used orbital from a fellow pbb member and its enroute :smokin: parts are coming together faster than I thought which means maybe I will get a snow wheelin trip in this winter!

TheChewMaster

Damn dude, makin some progress. I always thought tearing the tranny tunnel looked like tons of work. But all the dope rigs have that done. If you're going to upgrade tcases to a d300 and do links in the future, I'd wait and get her running properly this winter then do the flat bottom another time.

I think I would move the axle forwards. You're going up in tire size and running a much larger axle, it wouldn't be a bad idea in my opinion. Mock it up, as long as your shackle isn't horrible I'd run it.

kdub0013

So got some stuff accomplished today before the wife and baby got home. Got the front cleaned up for the new hanger. I also started removing fenders and hood. I am going to run tube from the cowl to the front clip. I am thinking either plate the the section under the fenders and run tube from the cage to that and then out or notch it and tube it all out? Also my 16" efan is going to work with the stock shroud so flop it. Anyway just some ideas. The duct tape represents plate and tube.

kdub0013

Some bling shots nothing crazy but it's coming!

And my new full hydro pump

finisher424

kdub0013

Fully committed now. Dropped the fuel tank and hacked the front off, time for tube.

kdub0013

Finally got the front 60 home. I almost :pokinit: my pants trying to muscle it by myself but I got it.

kdub0013

Lame freakin' update but here it is. Got the front hanger set where I think I want it, need to bolt everything up before I burn it in which will all happen this weekend.

kdub0013

Got the frame prepped and cut off all the booger welded garbage that was on the axle. Need my shackles, passenger side u bolt and a taller spring perch for the driver side. Not burning anything in until I can cycle everything.

kdub0013

Question for those with 60 fronts. Are you running a spacer on top the tube mounted spring perch to match the diff side? Similar to the toy axle? No where I have seen addresses this, no biggie I can weld one in, just curious more less because I need to add another 3/4" to level the axle out on both sides.
