Dr.Maxwe001

:dunno: about gears so i cant say anything  it might be a hair to deep from te picts but then again it could be a hair to high or a hair to the left or a hair to the right   :weirdthread:

Yeah, I still think it is too deep from what I can tell. Just wanted some opinions before I take it apart again.

LowSantorin

No expert by any means but it does look a bit too deep to me as well.  Wait for some "experts' opinions

Dude you can pm me and I'll help you out with whatever ,
your getting better each time you set the gears up!!

Gears are a pregnant dog , and big money to install I think I looks good this last time but it is a little low in the rear part of the gear.

Updates

Finished up installing my gears this was the pattern I ended up with, think it looks pretty good.

Also here are the rest of the updates, not much.

Rear shock mount

Finished putting my shackles together. Probably going to have to replace them. Still need to box the frame too.

Threw some new doors on. Also made some interior panels, but forgot to take pics.

IFS box mount

Hackjob to the the core support and body mount.

That's it for the summer. Hopefully will get a few things together on weekends when I can make it home.

Might be able to work on it this coming weekend. Had some trouble when I was trying to put my birfs back together last time. I have 27 spline longs with longfield inner axles. When I tried to put the inner snap ring in the birf I had no luck. I tried a hose clamp and a couple screwdrivers, but was still unable to get it in. There was only maybe an eighth of an inch between the end of the inner axle and the snap ring.

Are there any tips or advice you guys have for putting the snap ring in? Should I just martack it instead?

Any help or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

Why do those plates for the power steering box never seem to fit right.  I got a set for mine and had to have them rotated so much I just chucked them and made my own.

Yeah, I went a little overboard when I cut it out. Bracing it back up is definitely gonna happen. I also plan on putting some sort of guard across the front.

I am going to martack my inner axles, but had a question before I do so. If I measure for the martack with an open carrier will it make any difference when I put a locker in? I plan on running a locker in the future, but don't have the funds now. Thoughts? Any help would be appreciated.

Peterbuilt84

Finally got some time to work on my junk. Finally got my front axle together with 5.29s and longs. It's still open though, ahve to wait until I find a deal on a locker or get some more money.

Still have to install drop hanger, hydro assist and a few odds and ends. Then put the bed back on and get wheelin!   :chew:

Sparkplug

I martacked mine with a detroit, and it was quite a bit dif than wat online said should be welded, so i imagine it will differ between lockers, lets see some pics of the truck recently

Yeah that's what I gathered so I ended up just using the clips. I'm just going to wait until I have a locker and then make the martack accordingly.

As far as pics go I'll try to get some tomorrow.

82juguete

Looking forward to seeing you set up the hydro assist....wish I would've done it on mine right when I went to hi-steer...

Peterbuilt84

Ran into a problem putting together my front axle. When I put the u bolt on the pass side near the diff it doesn't seem long enough. I called tg and they said both bolts are supposed to be the same size.  :dunno:

This isn't torqued down, but doesn't look close at all. Does this look right to you guys?

Other than that I finally finished putting together my front axle

5th stud

Sparkplug

Nope thats not right. I know on mine some are longer, but u need full threads though the nut, try lossening all, and redoing it. As long as you have full threads, it sits even, and torued right, ur golden. Looks good by the way :beerchug:

Thanks, I think they sent me the wrong u bolt. It's all the way against the bottom of the axle and isn't even close. I'll give them another call in the morning
