I just got off the phone with the toyota dealer support....?? ?? ?? don´t know what you guy´s call it over there...

anyhow. he told me that the diesel and bensin trucks have the same flywheel.  At least he looked at. the landcruiser and from 1.august ´98 - sept 2002 the bensin models = kzj and the diesel models =kdj had the same flywheel. and he told me that he was 90% sure that the 4runner had the same deal. (he couldn´t find info about the runner but same engines should mean the same deal)

I hope this info is correct and that it helps you.... the only other way for me to find that info would be at the junk yard and he only has engines sitting in trucks.

Mark, check into the 3.0(gas) flywheel being the same.  I've got a flywheel on one of my engines, I can have mikerob run out and measure the diameter, and count the teeth.  I knwo the 3vze(gas) has the same 8 bolts to mount it, and from the diagram, and the picture, it sure looks the same, so that seems like the best bet to me.    Sorry, I can't find any of my books that have my parts lists in them

although I did find this link that may be helpful (it contains a download for the toyota database of part #s supposedly, I don't have time to unzip it, and burn it to CD right now) the link is the Toyota EPC#1, EPC#2, and EPC FAQ near the bottom of the page.

Get some pics of your flywheel and measurements.

I need to know the overall diameter of the flywheel where the ring gear is pressed on.

Tooth count would be nice, but I am sure the tooth pitch is differant.

Also how thick is it? what is the bolt spread on the crank mounting center to center across the middle? what does the center hole measure?

Is there a shoulder on the crack where it mounts of on the V6?

Bazzi, thanks for your help. It would be nice if you had access to the flywheel, but there may be a way around this expensive setup.

If the V6 wheel won't work I may make an insert for the auto wheel so the clutch will fit Or I may just get a flat plate an turn a new one and use the ring gear off the auto wheel.

have you considered running the auto trans?? and making your duals divorced??

i realize this isnt optimal for yuor use/vehicle length
but its there

Sorry, but WOW, Yes, but I would half to run only one box and the driveshaft will still be 4" shorter.

Don't have the camera hookup for this computer, but I'll post the pics later  

From tip of teeth to tip of teeth, the diameter is 12"  without the teeth, the diameter is 11"
Mounting bolt hole to mounting bolt hole is the same as your pics, roughly 3" 
Thickness of the entire flyhweel is 1-7/8"
Thickness @ the mounting holes is a little less than 1" 

Like I said, I'll get the pics up later tonight, don't have the hook up on this computer

The out side diameter is smaller and it is not as thick.

Looks like the bolt pattern is the same or at least close.

There is a chance it could be used, but the starter would need to be moved inward to contact the ring gear.

Also the gear pitch is smaller.

I think to save time I will need to order the correct flywheel.

OK, I've been lurking the past few pages of this thread, and since I love discovering which Toy stock parts can mix-and-match between different Toy models, AND I love playing with the Toyota EPC, I'll chime in.

Well, I was looking at the diagram of the bellhousing for the manual 1KZ, and it looks almost identical to one from an L-series motor. I know, the diagrams may LOOK the same, but there may be small differences.
Anyway, it looks like the starter mounts in the same spot (ie. angle around the circumference of the bell).
Also, the part numbers are VERY close.
I did some cross referencing between part numbers for the bell, flywheel, tranny bearing retainer, flywheel bolts, clutch (I think), and maybe some other stuff. Unfortunately, i did it using a few different models, and I wrote down notes on a paper, which I've miss placed...LOL

ANYWAY, look into stuff from an L-series. Its late, I'm punchy, and I have CRS, so I cant even remember which series L it was...(1, 2, or 3L)
I wanna say it was the same L as used in the LC7# Cruisers.

Give me a couple days (the computer I have the EPC on had a Windows crash (wow!! GO FIGURE!), so I gotta mess with getting everything reinstalled), and I could recheck everything and give you more details, if you want.
