well if he offered to "try" and figure it out, you better have an extra one cuz it might not last long!

no he backed out got a deal on some custom H1 wheels with brand new 37s so Im just gonna keep modding the truck to run the 37s and save for duals... so now yo got me debating on the welded rear... was looking on ZUKs sight and saw that you can put V6 gears in a 4cyl 3rd so I might have that done or just in stall an aussie or lock rite

what would be the purpose of having v6 gears installed in a 4cyl third?

v6 ring and pinion is thicker?  how could it be thicker if it just "fits right in"

from what i know the v6 gears use bigger bearings, which is why you have to use a v6 housing to put them in.  So do you have complete v6 third members in your truck then?

got it back and swaped the truck.  and it works fine now for about 2 years.   sorry bro. can't answer your qestion for sure.

Jud

Puting V6 gears in a 4cyl 3rd is pointless because the only strenght difference is in the bigger bearings and thicker 3rd casting.

only reason i would do it is so I could weld it up easier... might as well buy a spool or just gear my old 4cyl 3rd

thanks Jud!
also i dont understand why it would be any easier to weld up a v6 third rather than a 4cyl third? its the same procedure, just weld the spider gears together!

the carrier is not the same as a 4cyl. the v6 carrier is made to hold bigger bearings. but idk if that makes a difference for a spool or not. i have never installed a spool, only lock rites

but the V6 case is the same for the 4.88 as any V6 carrier?

I would like to run 5.29 but I dont really plan to run any bigger than 35s after my 37s wear out and will do dual cases with my tax return so would 4.88 be a good jump or just run my 4.56 til get $$ for 5.29s

I did that same kinda thinking when a gear swap was in view. I held out for the 529's all together and I'm sooo glad I did. Thats not a big enough jump to spend the $$$$. Just my 2 centaroonies.
