YOTA yota

It changed to the 27th...

jrock

Okay, I may be around. We'll see if I have moved or am moving that weekend.

jrock

So my possible trips are as planned:
Bald Mt on March 20th (Over the Hill) or Uncle Tom's on March 21st (UC4x4).
Hollister Hills on March 27th (MC).

I would like to have my RUFs mounted by one of these trips but seeing as I can't seem to get the parts I need, I don't think they will get done. I am also waiting on some paperwork to go through. As soon as it does I will be moving to Bakersfield. Trips will have to take back seat to my new job :( but the job is a very big :) .

RUFs in, yay.

I need to add one more leaf to them so they don't W like all my other packs. I need to really flex it out and see what kind of length I need on my shocks and then will come shock towers.

Took a few measurements:
Front cross-member 24.25in
Center of frame (just behind skid-plate mounting bolts) 21.75in
Rear T-case base 18in
Rear frame in front of shackle mount 31.25in
Front diff 9.5in
Wheel base 114.5in
Center of headlight 39.5in

I don't know how these compare but I'm off to do some searching

I've only got an inch before they hit right now :) I'm making new front packs and adding the fourth leaf back in the F150 rears. Looking for no more than a four inch total lift. That includes the one inch body lift.

Yes but I think I grounded the CB so time for a new one. And yes, I think so :)

I have to find some beadlocks so I can mount these up and know where to go from there.

Recommendations?
I was leaning to Allied Beadlocks, 15x10" 4"BS but maybe 15x8" 2"BS :dunno:

Allieds are super nice. However the 15x10 wheels are actually 15x11 because of the beadlock, so the 15x8 wheels are actually 15x9... Just keep that in mind...

If you wanna go cheaper you can look into some Bart beadlocks from places like Summit or Jegs. However those aren't as beefy because they are made for dirt track race cars...

I wasn't sure if companies compensated for the beadlock when they make them. Good to know cuz I wanted 15x9 anyway. I would really like good quality wheels, I plan to keep these a while.

Are Allied's outer rings strong?
So, 2inch BS?

Yea Allieds are plenty strong enough.

My truck is looking at a large overhaul very soon. My plans are for:

Allied Steel Beadlocks, 15x8 with 2"BS
Re-build springs front and rear
New shock towers front and rear
New shocks front
Rear disk brakes
5.29s front and rear
Longfield Chromoly front axles and hub gears
Re-pin hubs
Re-paint it all blue again  :cheese:

It's just going to be expensive.

81yotalove

where did you get the front hanger for the f-150's? the two wheel drive  one are 2.5 wide correct? nice build up too by the way.

Thank you. Bought Marlin hangers, just right in width. 2wd f150 rears, 2.5in wide. Mine had 4 leafs and an overload. I took out the bottom leaf and they're perfect.

Update:
PnP = York  :disturbed: I am starting on that too.

Re-build springs front and maybe rear
5.29s front and rear
IFS rear axle
Re-paint it all blue

New shock towers front and rear
New shocks front

Allied Steel Beadlocks, 15x8 with 2"BS
Longfield Chromoly front axles and hub gears
Re-pin hubs

Run 37's

Possibly:
Vented rotors
Rear disk brakes

81yotalove

im doing disk brakes too. im using sky's brakets and rotors. autozone for calipers 85 monte carlo front single piston, pins, and lines from stock hard line to banjo on caliper. i hate drums thats why im doing it.

so you plan on trimming to fit the 37's or are you going to add leafs front and rear to clear them?
oh and where did you get your flat pitman? i dont know if i should use a flat pitman or a drop one and just angle the box up?

The rear third is built. 5.29 w/ full Detroit. I received coiled rear axle housing that I am cleaning up for leafs. 2 hours of sawzaw, cutting wheels and grinding = almost done. Pulled two inners with brakes from Pick Your Part today along with IFS calipers for a vented rotor swap. I even found a birf in the middle of the yard just sitting in the dirt. $10, pretty cool.

I NEED A WELDER! POO!  :(

Rear disks is cuz I HATE drums.

For the 37s I will likely add the fourth leaf back in to my F150 rears and the fronts are getting completely rebuilt into 6 leaf packs. On top of that I will cut and trim what I need to accommodate the 37s. I would love to end with 3 inches total lift and because of my 1inch body lift that means 2 inch suspension lift  ??? . SO, I'll probably end with 3-4in suspension with the 1 inch body.

jrock

I like pictures too.

81yotalove

thats why im doing them i hate drums period lol. how are you doing your brake setup?

earlier this week i went to the pick and pull and got me the 4 leaf and overload f 150's with u bolts flips should be cool. once i get them mounted im  making my front packs. im probably going to buy sky's since they are 3inch wide which is how they are mounted factory. i just want to clear 35's with no trimming.

im looking into buying a lincoln 140hd. seems like it would do fine for welding stuff to my frame and axle housings.

jrock

I just put the F150 u-bolts on my rear axle. They seem to be working just fine. They're not as large as the kits but to me, does it really matter? Are you running a double shackle?

My rear disks are on the list but I'm waiting for parts and funds.

Look at the Hobart 140. It's essentially a Miller but way cheaper and with ALL the same specs as the other 140s. Amazon has them for $475.

81yotalove

not bad i'll have to check that out on the welder. i'm not worried about the ford ubolts at all lol. are you going to use chevy stuff of toyota stuff for your rear disks. what do you plan to do for an e brake?
81 swb 22re 35's

jrock

E brake will come later. Probably All Pro.

I'm going to buy the Trail Gear rear disk kit, mostly for the simplicity.

If you ever worry about the Fork U bolts I hear the Chevy U bolts are much thicker. :)
