I torched off the outer portion of the brake plate/dust shield which had a support for the hard brake line. Any suggestions on how to support it now or how you've done it? Pix would be great.
I'll post some pics of the runner next week after the KM2's go on. Still trying to decide what width rims and offset to do. Don't want it so wide the wheel bearings suffer, plus I drive past the PO PO shop on my way to and from work.

zipties are your freind

I know that's not how you did it, your attention to detail is disturbing :slap:
What are the rims on your runner Dan? They look good.

they are called soft 8s, american racing makes a model, allied makes a similar model

seriously though, cut the tabs of the old backing plates, make a small plate to weld to the frame to hold em, and if you cannot reuse the clip, two zippies will hold it fine, this is what i had to do :D

THK Matt

get this bad boy done bro.

if you need any help this next weekend, just hollar.
I am trying to pick up a 98 Tacoma 145mi 3RZ 5spd 2in lift on my 33s crawler front bumper and 4x2 tube rear.

its pretty nice.

anyways let me know YJ.

I did exactly that, but i figured the hard line needed to be supported near the caliper?
What width and offset are the rims? I was planning on using soft 8's, had them on my jeep for a while.

ive run no support on the hard lines for about 10 years on 6 different rigs, never had an issue, is it possible? yes, but not likely

yjay

Right on. I think I'll just make some short ones then, like 3 inches or so.
What about the width and backspacing on your rims? I'm gonna buy some tomorrow if I can figure out what I want.
Thanks.

im not sure, like 4.75 call les swchab and ask, they refer to whatever mine are as "standard rear wheel drive offset"

Got new shoes today. 35x12.5 BFG KM2's. The stripes on the steelies gotta go. I am pleased with the road manners of the Detroit. I think I may drop the front a little, and maybe try to stiffen it up because it dives pretty hard under braking. I'm also going to run some type of swaybar with disconnects up front. Should be a fun project. Now for bumpers, get my winch on etc. etc.
Yes the running boards will go

Can someone tell me where the other end of this plug is. It comes from the engine bay and is in the same harness as the reverse light and the neutral sensor. The picture sucks, but it's 3 prong. I can't believe I can't find it, obviously it's right there  :maddest:

Idk what that is but you should put square ubolts on the left side of your front axle. Those things will always stretch and come loose then break on you.  :twocents:

It is, it plugs into the ADD thing. Im still trying to figure out if you short it out, if it will make your green 4wd light work normally again or not.. idk yet though..

Made a front driveshaft from parts lying around. I put both cases in low and let the clutch out in 1st holding the brakes and I have approx. 3/4" of slip left under compression, but in reverse doing the same thing it shows the splines. Not sure what it will do under real testing, but it doesn't look good. The stock yoke may not do it
I'm kinda bummed cause a guy I know with a really flexy runner uses the stock yoke and has no problems, so I was hopeful.
Square shaft time maybe (only temporary if I do).
Pretty gnarly that it will push the suspension to the bumpstops at idle.

Finished my square front driveshaft today. I was worried about getting the CV joint installed square into the tubing, but I learned that if you find a shop that makes driveshafts for agricultural applications, they can center them because square shafts are common for that kind of thing. I had everything prepped and they got it set within 5 thousandths. Also got some good inner and outer axle shafts for spares.
Minisimp's thread on making square driveshafts is great. Thanks Mini   :yesnod:

New bumper, old winch. Did the t chain, tensioner, guides, oil pump. The ones that were in there looked brand new. The guides showed no signs of wear at all. Oh well, you don't know till you get in there. Adjusted valves as well, they were pretty good though. Seems to have been very well cared for.
