i figured  at some point  i'll buy longer shocks  and  the  ifs  housing  will have the shocks  mounted  on the  side  so  i need a new  shock mount,   left the old ones there  so i could use them till i got new stuff

Cut the bar even with the inside rail of the frame and make some brackets with good solid gussets to mount it to the frame that way you can fully weld everything.

Even better, forget the whole extra bar and build extended brackets off the original cross member for the shocks.

i dont have a sawzall  to cut the bar out,
the plan is  to gusset  it  to the original bar

For now I just have a plate welded on to the original to extend the mount.

i was hoping  you would  help/build a  cage around it for me

Whats it look like? got pics?

I'm hoping you can come up here sometime after that blue thing starts moving on its own power and we can get sommin done. You prolly need that hoist thing made most, so you can start scrapping.

Hey did Dennis come get a 3rd from ya?

I don't think you're in need of a cage, yet. LMK when you get to denting body panels, rolling, hittin' 4s, etc. Get to work on making that crap MOVE!!! :slap:

Wait... Maybe I need to heed that advice.  :smack:

I'd redo that shock mount, Glen. A reinforced piece of plate with mounts on the factory "tube" would be just as good as your pipe from framerail to framerail. Just my  :twocents: , though. Good to see some progress!!!

Plus it would be less heavy too.

weight doesn't necessarily mean beef.  you can throw all the steel at it you want, building it right will almost always be better than building it big.  I'm with CTENG on this one   Weld that pipe to the frame rails with brackets and gussets, or modify the existing one :yesnod:

yep  Dennis came over this afternoon  ,  he  got a a/c compressor  and bracket (gonna try and make a  air compressor)  and the 3rd

he loaded  all the scrap from the rebuild  on the trailer for me :woohoo:

btw  he said my shock mount looked good (i worked on it some more)  and  he would  probably do something similiar

its like my old bumper but without  the  cage  that surrounded  it
