well i  went down today  and  put the u bolts  on  so the f150's  are  nice and tight,  problem is  i need  some  degree shims to  rotate  the pinion up

i might look at grinding the perches off the ifs  housing  but since i dont have any spacers  i'll run the  axles  under it  till i can afford to go 5.29's  then  i'll put the 35's on

and get this, i measured  the  spring to frame height  with the old springs on  and  then  after  i got the f150's installed,  the f150's  sit 1/2 inch LOWER

but the are softer  so  hopefully  it will ride really smooth

i'm  also doing a  weird  double hanger set up,  using the f150  shackle  and a  mixmatch of toyota shackles

i'll take a pic tomorrow

anybody got another f150 shackle ??  i cant find my other one :snare:

thanks Chris,  thats the way  i mounted the drivers  side today

did you use degree shims to rotate the pinion up??  or  did you cut  and reweld the perches??

I didnt need to do anything. Just with the springs and dual shackles (using a stock f150/chevy shackle amd a 6" eye to eye) it put the pinion at an angle that was perfect.

sweet,  i'm thinking  my angle will be better  when i put  the bed back on, if not i'll get some  steel shims  and weld them to the spring perch

I think yours may not be so good cause you have such a small shackle thats the second shackle.

If i were you id switch the shackle placement that u have. put the longer one hanging down and the shorter one resting against the frame. Itd give u a better shackle angle AND will keep it from inverting more.

EDIT: Or is it just an optical illusion and they are the same length shackles? If not like i said put the smaller one against the frame and the longer one hanging down.

79coyotefrg

i gotta make some longer shackles,  those are too short to allow  full compression

i removed my header  and welded up all the little cracks  with a 3/32 6011 rod  and 40 amps,  it  did a very good job  ,  it sucks  cause my old  headers  have lost almost all the ceramic coating, :rivers:   they wont last  but  another year or so before  they start falling apart

first pic  is  the pipe  from the header  to the glasspack,  Jordan  was  getting a little happy  with the sawzall  when he was under there

Im kinda leary about the double shackle deal. Are you gonna have a locking mechanism to keep it on the frame when not wheeling?

I got 2 that I'm not using.  :gap:

Don't worry about the pinion angle, it'll all work out once you get the bed on it, and maybe find some longer shackles.

Getting closer everyday, huh?  :yesnod:
