I see more problems in this pic than i saw in person Mikey.Several places look to be shorted across 2 or more circut lines.

Here are a couple more pics..

Just a wild guess that its not supposed to look like that huh?

i mean... you could remove and replace every resistor... but from the looks of it... you have a shorted ECU.

save that one.... and fix it and make it a spare?

So i noticed a lot of that corrosion or whatever it is, can be scratched off.

Is it likely the corosion is the problem or did it most likely fry the ecu?

looks like mainly rust,
but most boards wont rust.
eitherway get a new one, that ones ragged

Probably the case..  Watch me sell it one day and with my luck, i bet the buyer will never have another problem with it.

Dingman.

lol..

Hey.. least your not as frustrated as me with my truck.
Every time youve seen it it was great.. lol

Dingman.

come on.. your gonna quote that and not even post the link?

damn 150, i just sold one for 60 bucks

apparently the 3.4L ecu's are in more of demand than the 22re's.. Hence the higher price.

haha anything newer is more cash flow dudee.

And deff has nothing to do with the auto ecu running a 5 speed. Almost every 3.4 swap I see has an auto wiring harness. I would say that it got water in it and that shorted it out unless you have some sketchy wiring going on else where?  Before you put the new ecu in I would go threw and check all the conections that aren't factory. I don't know how you did the swap but yeah I would double check the parts of the 3.4 harness you modified for your dash and all that good stuff just to double check.

It kind of sounded like maf problems to like I know that was the problem but I would trouble shoot why the ecu would do that if it was still working what would have caused it to make it run like it did before it totally burnt up maybe it will lead you to the wiring problem. The only reason I say that is because its rare for an ecu to just burn up without a wiring failure somewhere else.

Well im not sure what exactly happened.  I am figuring that with all the corrosion that is on the circuit board must have cause the final failure..  It was absolutely running like :pokinit: a week ago when i first discovered this.  That was when i took it apart and noticed some water in the system.  When i dried it up it ran great afterward for a couple days.

Im starting to wonder if the water/corrosion/etc. got on the ecu and fucked with the timing, which would explain why it was backfiring and had idle issues.  I did try swapping maf's, and other sensors and nothing changed it until i dried the ecu.

Looking at it now though, with all that corrosion on the ecu, i could see how it might have led to it shorting out, but i don't really understand how circuit boards work.

I cleared up a few things that might have allowed water into the cab near that kick pannel so it shouldn't happen again.   One thing heath brought up though, isn't there like drainage rails for the sunroof?  Do those leak toward the back of the vehicle or down the A pillar?   I am going to check the seals on that sunroof when it dries up and try to figure out how water got in there.

84t0y

oh i thought you were running the stock 3.0 ecu. it makes sence that the 3.4 one would be more money.

hope the new ecu solves your problem.
