Dingman.

Right on..

So maybe weld the spiders to that cross shaft and then weld it to the one side gear and it should be fine right??
Think that would hold up for driving from magalia to butte and then romping on it on the weekends?

Dingman.

As long as i clean the metal really well and maybe preheat it, it should last in theory right?

Stated eariler, less than 1200 into the swap That is including things like a new marlin heavy duty clutch, flywheel resurface, plugs, rear main seal, and all the other parts needed for the conversion.

Dingman.

So pretty sure i fried my ecu..   :_oops:

Truck was running like absolute :pokinit: on wed. night.  I ended up swapping every sensor on the truck trying to figure out why and nothing changed how it ran.  I would give it gas and it would backfire like crazy, and barely run.  I ended up finally looking at the ecu and there was some water in the connectors, so i ended up taking it apart and drying it and putting it back in and it ran much better for a little while.

(Normally when i turn my key to the "on" position the CEL comes on and the fuel pump along with it, then i turn the key all the way and it will start.  So i know everything is good to go when i turn the key and see that CEL which goes away when it starts.,and it will run fine.)

So last night i was driving home and the truck didn't seem like it had as much power as usual so i revved it up and it completely died on me.  So tried restarting it and it would not happen. I coasted over to the side of the road and sat there thinking What the heck just happened?   Turn the key to "on" and notice that there is no light on the dash, which means my fuel pump is not on, which means it will not start.  So i tapped on the kick panel where the ecu is located and once i do so the light comes on and i start my truck and drive home.  I messed around with some of the wires on the ecu to make sure they were on there tightly and drove it around to make sure and everything seemed really good.

SO today i go to leave school, go to start up my truck and no light again.. wtf??  so i kick the damn ecu area and it fixed whatever problem there was..  started it up and go to leave.. and it backfires a bit and ran like :pokinit: until i got out of the parking lot..  Seemed like it was running with a little less power than usual again.  ANd since it rained today i starting thinking maybe more water got into the connections again.  So when i got home i checked, and wiped down the connectors to be safe.. and plugged it all back together and go to test drive it and its still running like :pokinit:.. SO i reach to the ecu and hit some wires in the back and i think it shorted out, cause the truck died and i cannot get it started for the life of me..

Sound like i fried the ecu?

Dingman.

I don't think that is the issue.. I ran that auto ecu for a year.  almost put 10,000 miles on it since i did the swap. It has been great until i got water in it.

Dingman.

I can get the exact ecu for roughly 120-150 bucks online.

Just need some cash. There is one on ebay i can buy right now for $150 to my door, or i can get one from TAP auto in rancho cordova for $125, don't think that includes shipping.. Will probably go that route since i can return it if there is a problem.

86bobbedtoy

shitty, tear it apart and see if there is any burnt spots.
i have seen them soaked and still work.
Id be thinking about a short somewhere near there,
dont replace it and burn another one

runr-meech

it looked a little burnt in a couple different spots to me. :therethere:

Dingman.

I just took it apart.. This is what i found.  Idk if any of these mean anything, id like your input.  Thanks
