All good, mayne.

Obviously wouldn't work for you with an working e-brake. Works nice for me, though. Now I need a line-lock or two

Wheeling two weekends in a row???? CRAZY!!!!   :king:

Ran several fours and had a good time.

Full album is here - http://s272.photobucket.com/albums/jj168/Jordan7118/Superlift%20March%2014%2009/

This Jeep is ballin'. 37" Coopers, and he wheels it hard. Still a luxury rig, though. I'm jealous  8)

But he can't seem to stay away from trees. Not the first time a flare has been injured in process.

They used a winch and a snatch block to pull the tree away.

I'm preparing for another run this weekend. The TTORA Takeover will be at Superlift this fall, so we're doing a pre-run this weekend.

Starting Issues:
I pulled my red-top Optima and took it to Autozone. Apparently they can't charge gel-cell batteries, so getting a reading on whether or not they are good is difficult. Regardless, they said mine was bad. I asked if I could upgrade to a yellow-top. For about 50 bucks, I now have a true deep-cycle and starting battery

I picked up a battery terminal disconnect so that the battery won't drain while Snoop's sitting. However, I seem to still be having troubles. Snoop idles rough, now, so I'm thinking my alternator is bad. It might also be condensation in the gas, so I'm picking up some HEET to put in the tank. That fixed this last time. If not, I'll replace the alternator (probably need to anyway, as it has seen its fair share of power steering fluid and whatnot).

First priority this week is to write some papers (not much of a spring break, eh?!...)

To Do:
- Put in new radiator
- Alternator
- Fix CB wiring - died on trail  :smack:

If time permits:
- Sliders
- Tranny tunnel patch
- Rear shocks
- Groove a little more on my tires - more horizontal cuts that run across the tread - maybe not...
- Rear CV driveshaft

Heck I should bring my trailer down with me, this weekend, and tow your rig back up here for tube work. You need some protection before you get tooo brave.

I would love that!  :beerchug:   I just haven't had time to do what I need to. I don't want to put that on you, though, as I know you're busy. I'll come to you when tube work needs to be done. I don't wanna burden you with it. I just need a master bender lookin' over my shoulder.

Have you decided if wheelin' on Friday is possible?  :dunno:  If not, that's fine, too. I just don't know if I'll be able to throw down on Sunday, as I have to get ready to go back to school  :tantrum:

Is your hood popped in all those pics?

Keen eye, my friend!

Yea, I've had some overheating and starting issues, so I just left the hood popped. It's latched, but popped so I can get under the hood without pulling the cable in the cab.

I won't leave out till noon or so tomarrow. That puts us down there by about 3-4 oclock, then we have to set up camp. I might have time to ride on a couple easier trails friday. I have to be back for work sunday night, so that works out for me if you can't ride sunday. I figure were just gonna have to make saturday count.

I talked to Brendan, and his rig is tore down for some cromo rears, and disc breakes. He won't be able to go with us. I was hoping to have another rig with us, but its not looking like that will happen. With no winch, and  being all alone on the trails were gonna have to take it easy out there.

Thanks! I tend to have good camera people, be it my brother or my gf. I get bored with reading stuff on people's builds, so I like to include all the pics I can when they're interesting. Everyone has seen an engine, but not everyone has seen wheeling in Hot Springs. That's my logic, at least!

Jordan7118

I'm going home this weekend.

I plan to wheel, but first I must fix the beast.

- Replace power steering idler pulley - have new part
- Diagnose why Snoop runs like crap
    - Have new fuel filter
    - Not sure what else it could be...  :headscratch:
- Air up the tires

I'm sure I'm forgetting something. Just thought I'd let ya'll know to be expecting some pics. Woot!

Don't forget that little snap ring on the pully this time. Get pics!

nice pics , looks like a good time .. do you have any problems with your rear driveline and being flatbellied?? my problem is once im in 3rd gear or higher in 2wd high i get really bad grinding noises and serious vibration. i hear that putting a cv joint on the rear shaft will help but i still havent got around to doing it. i read you mentioned putting a cv in the rear, are you having the same problem im having  :dunno:

I got a new pulley from the parts store, and it wouldn't work. Go figure.  ::)

So, I put that snap ring back on and it held up all weekend

I've been meaning to put a CV back there, but I just have had other priorities. I've had the same problems you have, and I think the CV in the rear is the next step I'll try to make it work.

Gittinit

I run a cv in the rear and a regular old ujoint on each end type shaft on the front of my toy. It has no grinding issues. It don't exactly have a flat belly but its colse.

Maybe he didn't really "die" per say, but I did have to get towed off the trail by a Jeep  :yikes:

I was on a steep hill on the other side of the Superlift Park, and all the sudden he just died. Straight up died. No sputtering, just died. So, I tried to start him and nothing would happen. He sounded different too.

So, I asked the Jeep behind me what to do, and he said he'd come around me. Unfortunately, he couldn't crawl the spot next to me, so he ended up getting stuck between two trees (  :rofl2: )  So, I put Snoop in gear and grinded the starter for about 10 minutes to get him to the top. I parked him and went to help my friend. We had to saw down a tree that was about 10 inches in diameter to get him out... with a bow saw. Not much fun  :shakehead:

At the top, I hoped Snoop would start. "Ah, I'm just outta fuel. It'll start when it sloshes back to the front of the tank." Nothing.

I get towed back to the park and grind on the starter to get Snoop back on the trailer.

Here's what I think it is. Snoop wasn't running quite right before. I think maybe there was something obstructing the flow of fuel into the fuel pump which caused the pump to ultimately fail. So, he's not really dead, but currently won't start at all. I guess I'll fix this next time I come home.

So there ya have it. Pictures to come shortly.

Not much new.

I'm wrapping up finals this week, and I plan to be back in Hot Springs this coming Monday night. I'll begin working on Snoop Tuesday to see if I can get him to start. Hopefully it's just a fuel pump. Otherwise, I'm not sure what it could be  :headscratch:

I often use my thread to store ideas, so I'm going to put some on here now.

This is what I'd like to do for an exo. I want to incorporate an inner cage from where the exo goes into the cab to the back of Snoop for the rear occupants. Then attach some rock rails of sorts along the outside of the top of the 4runner "topper" rail for rub guards to that inner cage. One of the challenges is going to be how to incorporate the fact that I have a moonroof into the top bars.
k

These are the rub rails I'm talking about and some fender well tubing, too.

I also want to narrow up the front clip a little just to make my vision a little better and not take out so much sheet metal.

I like this one, but it needs a winch.

Too much...

Nice!

Has Marlincrawler turned into Yotatech  :dunno: Are my questions too difficult  :headscratch: I'm wondering if anyone is out there  :sleepy:

Your truck looks great! i like how you trimmed the front fenders, did you trim a the rear a little too?  Im not a big fan of full exo's ethier. But it is nice to keep the truck some what straight.

We've got a reply! Woot!

I haven't trimmed the rear fenders yet. I plan to tub them pretty good, though. I think the fronts look pretty good. I turned some rusted out fenders into something useable. My "stock" fenders were too pretty to cut up, so I just took them off.

I'm diggin' the partial exo idea. I'm going to keep mulling it over to see what develops.

Thanks for the reply!

nice rig. good job on postin lots of pics. the partial exo ideas look good. for fender bars i really like these 2 pics. (same runner?) i like how the fender bar is part of the fender and it looks really clean.
