Sorry for the lack of updates. I don't have internet access like I used to. I now have to travel to get online.

I've been working on the welding cart. I don't have pics on this computer to show you, but it's coming along nicely. I took the tires off a small ATV cart. They're pneumatic and roll nicely. I've made two hoops for the cart out of .5" sch. 40 pipe (about 1" OD). It's been a steep learning curve, but I'm making progress.

The welder is quite nice. I don't like the flux core, so I'm looking forward to getting a tank and solid wire soon.

No real progress on Snoop. I'm waiting to get the cart done before I tie into him again. I'm really anxious to drive him BUT I know that won't happen without work on my part.  :outtahere:

Keep on keepin' on, Crawler Kids!!!  :beerchug:

Dang, it's almost been a month since an update... well, not really.

I finally completed the welding cart, and it looks nice in my opinion. I'll post picks when I'm on my comp.

I'm almost done with mounting the t-cases. It's gonna be tight. I painted the front crossmember to ward off rust, and also the steering box. Next will be driveshafts, and I have something sweet planned.

I'm really diggin' the welder. I'm glad I jumped to 220. I also got a bottle so I could do solid wire. Flux sucks... I plan to get some stuff done this weekend. I'll post more when I get time. Holla!

Haha! Read it all, Glen!  :talkingn:

Sorry I haven't posted up progress... again... I have pictures uploaded now, and I'll put a few on here for those who don't want to retrieve them. However, feel free to look at the rest that are on my photobucket.

Coming together

Painted

Complete minus bottle

The welding cart is DONE and it works flawlessly. I bought a bottle and got some solid wire. Flux just wasn't cutting it, and I'm really happy with the gas welding. I'm really glad I got the HH 187, too. I've used up to the 5 setting on amperage out of 7. It did great on burning in 1/4" plate to 1/2" plate for the t-case mount.

Progress: I'm almost completely done with the crossmember and t-case mount. I just have to weld in the mounts for the bushings, and I'm really pleased with how it turned out. The lowest point on the drivetrain is the second t-case oil drain plug, and it's still about 1/4" above the bottom of the frame rails.

I've found what I plan to use for the front driveshaft. I went to the local Ag. Co-op and bought a PTO shaft adapter tube that receives a 1 1/8" solid square rod and mounts to a round tube. I think I'll run the slip at the t-case mount so that I don't mangle the square shaft on the rocks. I'll put a shock boot or something over it to keep it from hydro-locking. Thoughts?

I painted the steering box and finished up the brace for the box. I'm glad I went with the flat pitman, as it clears the bottom of the framerail by about 1/4" to the top of the TRE. Now I need to mount up the hydro-assist.

I need to cut the rear fenders for the larger tires, and I have a couple thoughts on this. I think, first, I need to move the axle back into center of the wheelwell. This would make it look better. Then I'm thinking about buying the wheeltubs from Summit that fit 40" tires, are 24" wide or so, and just butt them up against the current sheetmetal. This would give a huge wheelwell, but maybe that's just a little too much opening for what I'm doing.  http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=SUM%2DG7920&N=700+%2D105357+115&autoview=sku

I'm so close yet so far from being done.   I just have to keep chugging along.

I'm still working, I promise...

Cut out the fuel inlet and vent from the Toyota tank and put them into the Ford tank. I tried soldering it in there, but that turned out like poop, so then I tried welding it in there. That turned out better. After several hours of trying to get it to seal with a mixture of solder and welding (and several blow-throughs  :shake: ) I gave up and JB-Welded all around it. I capped off the Ford inlet and called it good.

I was able to cut off my front perches for my rear springs and salvage the mounts. I plan to put the mounts 3 inches or so forward to put the axle slightly forward of the center of the wheelwells. I should've done that in the first place, but I was blinded by the shackle angle  :inthedark: I'll have to move my rear shackle hangers forward, but YotaJosh was able to save them and make it work so I should be okay.

I'm really not sure where I left off on updates... Oops...

I'll be able to make the Agri spline work in the front. This isn't the typical "triangle"-looking shaft. It's a 1 1/8 " square slip going into an adapter with aroun a 1.9" ID tube. I can make this work and keep the round tube round and the square shaft square by putting the slip at the transfer case end. T

This will keep the square out of the rocks. I'll post measurements sometime, but the IFS front shaft has a larger diameter machined part on the slip yoke, so that's what I'll be using with an 85 CV on the t-case side.

I know everyone likes pictures, so I'll try harder to take more. I just get so dirty and work alone: makes it difficult to stop, clean my hands and take pics.

I'm on the smaller stuff now, I think. I've been working almost every evening, so just be patient.  I have to tell myself to just keep chugging along  :gap: I'll update when I can.

You have a deadline here ya know! Sept 19 it must be ready to wheel, so try to have it done, and a shakedown run before that would be a good idea. You don't have to tell yourself to stay at it, we can do it for you.......Get to work slacker!

I think some others were trying to figure cost for the weekend's event, and came up with a $75 figure including wheeling, camping, the big bbq meal, and a t shirt

Yea cost  $$$ is a concern I usually burn four tanks round trip so that adds up to about $300 (+) the fee for the weekend and the eating on the road up there and back. Still I will look into it, sorry Jordan highack of thread over  :sly:

EDIT: looked at the finances last night with my wife  and to find $400.00 extra in two months to make the trip just does not look like it will happen. Sorry looks like I will have to be a webwheeler on this one.

Hey Albert!!!

Hey to the regulars - Josh and Michael!!!

Yea, it's a $75 fee for the weekend that covers the three days, meal, and a year membership to the park... I think...

I just got back from Lowe's. I'm almost finished with mounting the tank. It sits right behind the axle and hangs down about an inch in the rear and 3" in the front (cab side). I'm really pleased with how it has turned out.

Albert, you're right. I really have to start moving if this is gonna make it. It's back on jackstands in the rear to put the rear axle forward. Just got off the phone with Datin Fab, and they're out of stock on the spring hangers with a 9/16" hole until the 11th, so I guess I'm gonna make my own. No biggie. I'll post pics when I'm on my own computer. I know that's why I look at people's buildups, so I'm sorry I've been slacking. I'll go back and add pics later. Now I've got to get back to work  :whip:

Just buy the 18mm ones, and drill out the Ford bushings with a hole saw, and use new Toy bushings. That's what I did for my shackles. It's a perfect factory fit.

I ended up cutting out some "washers" with a 9/16" hole from 1/4" plate and welded them around the spring hangers. Worked out great!

I got the rear gas tank hung, put the suspension back in. I moved the front spring hangers in the rear forward 11.5" eye to eye. This puts it much more center than it was at 8.5". I moved the rear hangers forward a little. I can't remember how much.

Tried to fill up the radiator to get closer to starting it up, but found a giant crack in the bottom. I tried to solder it, but it didn't take. I plan to take it to a radiator shop to see what they can do. If nothing else I'll just put the stock radiator back in.

Next on the agenda is to fab up the tranny tunnel so I can put the t-cases back up for good. That'll be a big relief.

I'm going, guys. I've been putting in 8 to 12 hour days lately on it. I work slow, and I promise I'll get pics up soon. PROMISE!

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT:

Snoop's ready to roll! Granted I don't have everything done, but he's done enough to move. The only problem is that now he won't start  :smack:

I had to rethread a spark plug hole because it was all jacked up. I recut the hole, and so maybe that's what's up. I checked the gas tank, and it works. The pump pumps wonderfully. What's the deal??? I was SOOOOOO excited to get it to start, but now that's over....

I'm back in Fayetteville, but I'll be back in Hot Springs in a couple weekends to finish up.

Need to:
-mount shocks front and rear (towers front)
-wire up e-locker rear - have ORS harness
-plumb ARB up front - have compressor, need axle fittings
-make tranny tunnel -pain in the bum...
- d-shafts, front and rear - rear easy, front needs some lathe attention
- brake lines - front only - need extensions

I'm sure there's more. I'll post pics (I PROMISE) when I have time and my own computer. Help me out on the starting issue!
