No, it was a yellow Jeep, I think... Maybe multiple colors. You know those Jeepers.

Glen, I'll be at a friends cabin. Sorry, man. I will be coming to see you, though, with the e-brake disk and to trade some tires. My friend wants his back, so I'll give you a BFG MT of the same size. Hope that's cool, cuz my friend's gettin' disgruntled. I'll let you know before I come. Probably not for a couple weekends. I'm swamped with stuff.

Yea, sorry about that, Glen. I was so wrapped up in trying to get you 4 of the same size that I didn't realize I was jacking his tread. I'll give plenty of notice. You still want the e-brake kit?

I dunno. It's one of the matching three. It's probably on a white wagon wheel with 5 on 5.5 spacing. That'd be the one.

Let's talk welders...

I haven't decided if I want a 110 or 220 yet. I have access to both in my "shop", but then if I take it somewhere I might not have 220. I could ghetto-rig it at the circuit breaker, but sometimes you don't have total access to that. I know that 110's are cheaper, but it seems that eventually I'll want a 220 because they're "better" to weld with. What "better" means, I'm not totally sure...

I definitely want a MIG. After having used both a Stick (arc) and MIG, I'm much more inclined to use a MIG due to easier cleanup, or lack-of, and overall just generally easier use.

In the 110 division...
(still working on it)

In the 220 division...
-Lincoln 175, 180
-Hobart Handler 187

I've heard that the Hobart is really just a re-badged Miller. It's been touted as the best bang for the buck in the welders. I'm kinda leaning that way if I can find a good deal on one.

I'm still doing research, so any suggestions, recommendations, advice is greatly appreciated.  :beerchug:

DTB

220 for sure...there are a few models out now with dual voltage (110 and 220) if you really do that much traveling ...

For 220 You can make an extension with (2)110 plugs that plug into different outlets on different circuits..

I'm not an electrician so I dont know how safe that is but I know it works if you have them wired correctly....no hot wires or anything....

YotaJosh

220 is the way to go if you're investing in one.

But, I do like the portability of a 110. I'm probably going to get a Hobart Handler 140. Northern Tool has free shipping on them  :king: (http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_6970_200306073_200306073)

If you want more local, I know that the Atwoods in Arkadelphia has a ton of Hobart welders and supplies. I was drooling on them the last time I went down to help Glen with his truck.

Thanks  :king:

I found the Hobart Handler 187 for $599.99 plus tax, so I thought that was a pretty good deal. All the stuff I've read has pointed to the Hobarts being a great bang-for-the-buck welder, so I bit the bullet and bought. Now I'm poor... again... BUT, I start work on Monday  :sly:

Glen, I hope you feel better, mayne. You didn't seem so hot today

First on the agenda is to make a cart for the welder. I didn't think it was worth the money to buy one. We'll see what I say in a couple weeks about that... It's pretty heavy though, so that needs to happen soon

I'll post up when I get set up  :bling:

Yea, I've seen Millers and Lincolns go cheaper, but I really have heard good things about the HH 187. Has 7 adjustments for amperage. Even before I started looking at welders, Dennis recommended the HH 187. He's a welder  ??? or something close to that, so I trust his opinion. They seem to be pretty popular, too. Regardless, it's done, and now I'm working on building a cart. Gives me an excuse to use the bender and welder  :eyebrow: I got one of the hoops layed out for the cart last night. Big learning curve on the bender, but I think I've got it figured out... Well, kinda...
