The body lift will probably be the easier, quicker solution, but it has drawbacks like raiosing the center of gravity.

Why not machine the spacers some so any wheel hub will work instead of having 4 custom, spefic parts, you will just have 2. Shouldt Skys spacers fit as is? It seems kinda hokey that  custom built to fit parts don't fit.  :screwy:

I checked out SKY's instructions last night after it wouldn't fit, and the instructions say that the hub might need to be machined. I, too, thought it was ridiculous that I would have to customize a "custom" part. Seems stupid.

From instructions: "Due to slight variances in Toyota wheel hubs this may require machining the ifs hub slightly to flush fit the spacer on the back side of the IFS wheel hub."

Why wouldn't you just make the center hole of the spacer large enough to fit ALL the IFS hubs? There can't be more than .25" variance in them all, right? Again, seems silly to spend $230 (after handling and shipping  ::) to have to spend more money to have something machined again.

As far as body lift, I'm thinking that the small change in the COG might be worth it for not having to cut up the tunnel (or as much), a better mounting for the sliders, more room under the body. Still not sure... Piss...

So true    I just have to keep that in mind. I've been without my wheeling vehicle for almost a year now, and it's really starting to bug me. :tantrum: Hopefully I'll get it done before summer. :crossed:

Yea, I should've known that a ridiculous price isn't always indicative of a good product  ::). I think I'm going to call them and ask what the hell is up with that. I'm no engineer, but that sounds bass-ackwards in logic. "We'll sell you this chunk of steel that we almost machined correctly, and now it's up to you to finish it according to your IFS hubs (which we could've accounted for in the first place...)"

Yea, I call BS on that, as well  :ack:

DTB

Im guessing you dont have access to a machine shop?

Not really. I guess I could try the Mechanical Engineering machine shop. I had access to a CNC mill, lathes, everything, in Hot Springs, but that's 3 hours away. Guess I'll try to find something close  :headscratch:

Ahhh... I see. I think I'll hold off on the BL until I start pushing up the t-cases and what not. This'll be fun...  :bull crap:

UPDATE:
I found a lathe in the Ag. Lab where I do research :grad: and machined down my hubs, as I don't think the spacers would fit in there. I'm going to get a hold of another set of IFS hubs and lockouts soon and machine them down, too, for spares.

The ARP hub studs came in today  :eyebrow: Only a few people have broken these studs out of many hundreds, so I'm pretty confident they'll work out for me. This also means that I think I'm ready to have a complete front axle this weekend. I meant to make it out there tonight, but I had something come up and had to take care of it...  :ack:

Looks like I'll be buying 3 new tires to match my 1st 38.5x14.5/15 TSL SX  :afro2: I'll be going to St. Louis the last weekend of April for other business, so I'll be chumming with Collier to get those tires  :bananabeer: Hopefully they'll work out. I'll have time to mock up the tire before I decide to buy, so that's a good thing  :cheese:

More to come as I figure stuff out...

Looks like I'll be going with Tennessee Off Road's beadlock kit. I found it on eBay from their store for $160 plus $32 shipped. Hard to beat that price.

I really liked Great Lakes Offroad's beadlock designs, but this TOR kit has a simplistic outer bead design, anti-coning ring ( :dunno: ) and a good price. GLO is $225 shipped without anti-cone rings. I think I'm good either way.

Spring Break starts today, which means I'll be here this weekend wrenchin' on my junk, and I can't tell you how excited I am about that!!! :woohoo:

Keep watching. It's coming together. Maybe slower than a dead sloth  :_oops:, but it's coming together...

Don't feel obligated to do anything for me. I help in what little way I can because I want to

UPDATE:
Worked on Snoop today. I finally got the front axle bolted together.  :willynilly: I did have to hold off on the brake calipers going on because I'm missing a spring and assorted stuff... No biggie - just the thing that stops ya...  :_oops:

Used some tractor and implement paint. It doesn't seem to be fully drying  :headscratch:

Front axle specs (Complete):
-5.29 FJ-80 Hi-Pinion ARB Locker
-Bobby Long "Longfield" axles - 30 spline
-Bobby Long 4340 Chromo locking hub gears - for IFS lockouts
-SKY IFS spacers
-ARP lockout hub studs
-IFS hubs and lockouts
-Marlin Crawler axle truss
-MC heavy duty inner axle seals
-MC Knuckle Gusset kit
-MC U-bolt flit kit
-FJ-60 vented discs
-V6 calipers
-New bearings, seals
-Shaved drain plug

Then, I went to work taking apart my latest steering box. I was thoroughly frustrated with the pitman arm. I ended up breaking two pitman arm pullers (Autozone rentals - $28 for the two...). I used the method prescribed in Freds40's Guide to Hydro-Assist Box Tapping (found on Marlin's Tech spot), but yet I still couldn't get it off. I tried using the 20 ton press in the shop, but it still didn't come off and ended up bending some 1/2" plate  :ack: Knowing that I might be able to piece two boxes together, I cut off the shaft holding the pitman arm right above the arm. Thankfully, I was able to Frankenstein a good box.

These two tasks took a lot longer than I expected. I was able to do some thinking about how I want to put my drivetrain in. I'm going to take out the carpet and seats tomorrow and start cutting up the tranny tunnel to accept the new stuff  :eyebrow: I'm kinda scared, though, as this means comittment once I cut through the floor. Whatever am I gonna do...

I dig this 4Runner, and it looks to have about a 2" BL. Plus, it's runnin' a sweet exo and 38.5x14.5 SXs. I think it has a High-9 in the rear, too. Really like this 4Runner.

I'll be here tomorrow and Monday working on Snoop. Then I'm off to Kansas to pick up a tubing bender, 38.5 SX, and to hang out with Grandma for Spring Break. Post up your thoughts, please!

Jordan7118

One more thing...

We got a new shop foreman the other day. He's pretty tough on us. Always wanting to lick my ears and such... Weird...

Not sure how old he is, but he's a Chihuahua, and he weighs less than a pound. Tiny little guy...

Gittinit

The tractor implement paint.....did you mix it?, if so did you use hardner? Is it cold in the shop, that enamel will need a warm temp to cure?
