pride in your vehicle is one thing, ignorance towards others rigs makes your thoughts on anything else worthless

This has got to be the truest comment ever made on this board.

I have to agree that driver ability is at least 80% of wheeling.

I used to take my wifes Toyota Corolla out wheeling, and not once did we get stuck. Even passed a few 4x4's that were having trouble. (not saying I'm the best driver in the world, but you get my point).

most of the XJs you see are 90 and older which have a much weaker unibody, in the Jeep world It is known to stay away from the 90 and older and if you can get a 97 or newer thats even better.
Despite that WOHs XJ was an 87 and it was pretty strong with the top cut off

I dont know a whole lot a bout XJs but I do know that 60s and 37s or 60 and 44 and 44s is allot of stress on things and so far so good, although WOHs rig was never wheeled after the full width and top chop.

my buddy in the pic I posted used to jump his alllot also when it was on 32s he even cleared the table top a Hollister hills by like 10 feet with about 5 feet of air on completly flat ground nose first.

My buddy says he will see you guys at MCR next year and will put his jeep up against any full bodied toyota there, and rock surfer I'll even bring my samurai

There all 4-wheel drives and thats all that matters.
As long as you have what you want there should never be a problem.    I like em' all, even subaru's.

Duffil

this is turning into a "no, mine is bigger" match.  Can't we just say that both of em have shortcomings and both a great strengths and leave it to driver ability...no, I guess that wouldn't work either..."I drive better than you!!"  :headshake:

irishracer34

   HAHA,     no....i drive better! :yesnod:

Actualy i saw the perfect rig the other day, one that i might even considering driving.   It was an old AMC gremlin with about 8" of lift sitting on 40"(?) TSL's, stuck way outside of the fenders,  360 under the hood.              It had roughly about 2 feet of clearence at the lowest point and a short ass wheelbase.   if i ever see it again i will get a pic,   It was SICK!

chevyguy

Welll i am gonna be on the unpopular side here and tell you I have had both, a 1980 toyota(3.8 turbo motor with 700r4trans), a 1987 with a tuned up 22re, and a 92 with a 3.0 and while they were O.K. trucks, the Jeep I have now is alot more fun wheeling. It was built to play in the sand and do some trail riding. I am currently getting my stuff together for my next 1992 wrangler build up which i am gonna build alot more for crawlin than anything I have ever owned before. Just my 2 cents for what ever it is worth i have owned both and both have thier points

Isnt this in the Jeep section? Who cares what everyone likes better? I just drive what i want to drive and build what I want to build. Enjoy your rig, thats what makes it yours

Willy Mammoth

 Chevyguy, welcome to the board.

I agree, build and drive what you like. If you didn't it wouldn't be fun would it.

I very well could have put all American made parts in mine, but like the Toyota stuff better and wanted an open vehicle.

I also liked the flat fenders and never planned to go this far.

I agree, I may tease and that but I have a very long list of different vehicles I've wheeled. I have no problem with any type of 4x4 wheelin with me and enjoy trying to figure out what line a certain rig should take. Sure I prefer a Yota, doesn't mean I don't like my Willys. You just have to approach an obstacle different in different vehicles with different wb's, widths and mannerisms. I in fact have a blast driving my Willys, I just wish it would not break every time I take it out.

I ain't even gonna bother.  We've established previously it's all a matter of opinion, and to each their own.  Obviously furrballs95 hasn't paid much attention, as there is domestic tech on here regardless that it's a toyota site.

Hey chevyguy this is not something to get excited over, we all get along here.
You have not been here long enough to realize that we don't call names and bash on people no matter what there beliefs are. Keep it to a mature argument.

People don't bash here they get banned.          Now I agree with you that jeeps are cool but so are Toyota's.  And like you said "it doesn't matter what you drive".     It is all about attitude

furrballs95

ok people i wasnt tryin to get any pissed at anyone but there was some on here that pm a message that said "forget about toyota and jeep they both suck wat about suzuki"and was just replying that if they both sucked then why would there be this website about them.  but all all it doesn't matter what you wheel i see it as just go out and have fun i have. a chevy a ford, dodge toyota, jeep, who cares we all crack on each other all the time but its just in fun. i doesnt matter. built break it build it agian.
